Raseedan belongs to Mehraula Village, in Haryana. She lives with her three daughters and two sons. Life was very good till her husband a wrestler, employed by the government was alive. With his untimely death she had to leave Delhi and life became tough. Initially, she earned a living raising some livestock. But that didn't go too far and soon she had to take work up as a labourer to make ends meet.

The Congress led UPA Government launched the mid-day meal scheme, that not only benefited the children but also provided lakhs of women like Raseedan a livelihood. She has now been with the school for a year.

Today, Raseedan is a happy woman who loves her job and never wants to stop working. She says "The financial freedom that this job gives me makes me very happy." She wants to provide a comfortable and secure life for her children who have lived through hard times.

By 2011-12 Congress-led UPA government allocated Rs 9,890 crore for the mid-day meal scheme. That is 7.5 times the budget allocated by the NDA government (Rs 1,325 crore) in 2003-04.

    Budi and Juglal never had any means to support themselves ever. No land no oxen, not even water. They are marginal farmers who work as labour on small farms while their children used to play all day here and there. Because of the RTE launched by the UPA led Congress Government they managed to put their children in school. Now they are happy that the children are learning something. They feel education will open the door of opportunities for them.

    The Congress led UPA government passed the Right To Education Act (RTE) in 2009 that makes education a Constitutional Right for every citizen. It has spent 8.7 times more than the previous government on Sarva Shiskha Abhiyaan.

    The story of Vijay & Anjali Das shows us how political parties actually effect the common man of India. Vijay and Anjali tells us they think well of a political party when it does more work for the poor. Their experience so far has not been good. They have to pay one rupee everyday to the Trinamool party shop committee or else they are beaten and face other problems like electricity being cut off. The fear of being beaten is what keeps them quiet and they pay whatever is asked.

    Anjali says with the Trinamool in power, Bengal has become very unsafe for women. Every second day they hear stories of rape which makes her scared to send her daughter out of the house. In a situation like this how will anyone be able to educate their daughters she asks.

    It is the work the Congress party does that sets them apart from other political parties. Indira Gandhi did a lot for the poor. A woman who always kept her word. Vijay and Anjali want a party that will not create unrest. A party that will let them eat 2 square meals peacefully. They want Rahul Gandhi to win. They feel it will be better for the country if he comes to power and that's why they would only vote for the Congress.

    Lourd Vijay is a dancer from Bengaluru, Karnataka. He views India as a country that is thriving on its diversity. In his words, "You drive every half an hour you see a different language, different dialect, different food and probably a different religion as well." As a dancer he takes inspiration from the many folk and tribal dances that we have in this country.

    He also runs a dance foundation which is a Registered Charitable Trust, that works towards child and youth empowerment using dance. What this foundation does is engage young people at an age when they are in need of direction.

    Lourd Vijay truly understands the importance of voting. That's why during elections he actually calls or text his students, reminding them to vote. He says " These are small steps we have taken to get things going in a positive direction." His political opinion is, that the congress is the only party that has a mixed age group which is why it's easier to connect with it.

    Raj Kumar Sharma, a Caterer who lives in Attari Village, Amritsar. It is Attari border commonly known as Wagah border where the famous, joint (India-Pakistan) parade ceremony is held every day. Truckloads of goods are exchanged everyday. He says there is "a sense of fraternity", "a feeling of brotherhood" with the neighboring country.

    Raj Kumar believes leaders like Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi did excellent work and created a framework for an enduring democracy. The forward thinking of Congress Party, is not seen in any other party.

    He says it was Rajiv Gandhi's vision to have people from all classes live together and in the process he even sacrificed his life. He knows given a chance, Rahul Gandhi will make India shine through his exemplary work. He wants the Congress Party to come back to power once again.

    Akash Jain a diamond merchant from Kolkata says, dealing in diamonds is a lot of hard work. He feels designers design a piece of jewelry without keeping the cost factor in mind. And it is people like him who have to figure out a way of making a 20 lakhs design fit into a 5 lakhs budget. Akash operates from Bada Bazaar in Kolkata as it is a traditional one-stop shop area, where people from all over come to shop.

    Akash says the development that has happened in the last 10 years under UPA led Congress government is clearly visible. If you take Railways, there has been a huge increase in the number of trains. There is metro in every major city in India. Delhi was a non-navigable city at one time as see how it's completely changed.

    Today, Delhi has an amazing metro that compares with any international metro. Even the traveling cost has come down 1/10th of what it used to be. A lot of business in Kolkata works solely because the connectivity with North East has improved drastically. Earlier there was one or two flights in a week and today you have 10 flights in a day.

    Being given a minority status means a great deal to Akash because people from his community had been struggling to get this for a while now. He says the students will benefit the most from this. And in the future his children will benefit in terms of reserved seats.

    Pushpavalli Ramaswamy from Mysore, Karnataka is an ex Deputy Mayor. She contested elections for the first time in 2001, and won the very first time. There after, she was made the Deputy Mayor of Mysore city from Congress. She believes Mysore is a heritage city and one should do every thing to preserve our beautiful heritage.

    Pushpavalli mainly works on women centric issues like dowry or marital dispute, in fact she also used to council the couples if required. She helped women get their ration card which according to her is the main problem in Mysore. She also helped with their old age and widow pension.

    Her day would start at 6 in the morning where she would visit the people who called her with different problems. She would listen and understand their issues and try and solve their problems then and there. This made the people very happy and even now if they have any problems she is the first person they call.
    Pushpavalli says we should always be in touch with the common people. She says sometimes even if you can't solve their problems they still feel happy that someone is there trying.

    For any State to prosper it's necessary for it to have a framework where business can flourish" says A.P. Singh Chatha, President of Amritsar Hotel and Restaurant Association. Unhappy with the current governance of the State, he talks about how a lot of business is slowly shifting out from Amritsar because of the wrong policies.

    The State Government sets taxes which the businessman have to comply, but it's the common man that bears the brunt of it. Any tourist that sets foot in Amritsar is overwhelmed by the burden of taxes. So why would he come again. Big chain of hotels have entered Amritsar thinking it's a great religious place which attracts a lot of tourists. He feels the State Government should develop the infrastructure which would make tourists stay for at least a night in Amritsar.

    There is no help from higher authorities regarding the difficulties a businessman faces. There is no support. A.P. Singh remembers how different it was with the Congress Government, they would not only listen to their problems but also try their best to solve it. They would give a regular businessman some room to breathe.

    The Industry in Punjab is going down the drain, and only a business friendly government can save it. 'Congress Party' he says is a business friendly party. He lives in the hope that the Congress Party would once again come to power which would bring back his golden days.

    Jagathram a shopkeeper from Himachal Pradesh says there were no roads, no electricity in his village 10 years back. When the Congress government came into power their lives changed for better. They brought electricity, transformers, water, and even proper roads were built. They never had a school around them but today they have a school that teaches up to 10th grade.

    He says, he and his people would never vote for BJP as they feel BJP are fundamentalists. They try and divide the country in the name of religion. His vote will always be with the Congress.
