Rahul Gandhi addressed a Public Rally in Dehradun, Uttarakhand on February 23, 2014. He praised the people of Uttarakhand for standing together in the aftermath of last year's massive natural disaster and said they had to remain united if they wanted to defeat the divisive forces and bring about changes in the country.

"Uttarkhand was one. The men and women here stood for the state after last year's disaster," he told a massive public rally at the Parade Ground, adding the armed forces should get the credit for relief work as they were in the forefront.

He said the BJP only gave lip service to the issue of corruption and accused it of not helping in pushing through key anti-graft bills in parliament. Congress brought the Lokapal Bill in parliament and the Lokayukta Bill -- which brings the chief minister under its purview. In the Uttarakhand, the Chief Minister is covered by the Lokayukta, he told the rally and also reminded them that Chief Minister in Gujarat was not under the purview of the Lokayukta.

    Addressing a public rally in Bhatapada ground in Cuttack district of Odisha on February 9, Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi said, "Odisha is perhaps the country's richest state in terms of its reserves of natural resources, but the people of Odisha continue to remain poor." He said it's because benefits of mining had not reached the people.
    "Rs 60,000 crore worth of iron ore and manganese ore have been looted in Odisha...its benefit should have reached the people of Odisha. But sadly, only a select few -- including the mining mafia -- have benefited from it."
    He also said, "No government has provided as much funds to Odisha as the UPA, but nothing has reached you. Everything was siphoned off by the state government."
    The Congress Vice President said, "10 lakh people in Odisha are unemployed, but the state government is doing nothing." He pointed out that 22 of the state's 30 districts are affected by Maoist / Naxal activities.

    Rahul Gandhi stressed on the need of improving network of state roads. He says he will also push the state government for focusing on road network development in Amethi district as well.

    Sharing his views on the recent Tamil Nadu government's decision to release the convicts of Rajiv Gandhi assassination case, he said " I am upset with the fact that if justice cannot be given to the Prime Minister of India then how can we expect justice for common people of this country" and adds " I will continue to fight for the rights of common people."

    Addressing a public rally in Assam, Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi said the peace and prosperity the region has experienced in the last few years is because of UPA government and efforts of a Chief Minister like Tarun Gogoi. He said there are two types of leaders -- one who gives power to people, and the other who extracts power from people. He said he believed in the former, and wants to empower the youth, women and tribes of Assam so that the state develops more and pushes India towards further development. Stressing on the need for inclusive development, he said its not the leaders who change the world but common citizens.

    Giving credit to the women of Assam, Gandhi said the fruits of development being enjoyed by every native of Assam is because of the hard work and commitment of women. He said initiatives like Self help groups, infrastructural works like PMGSY, dedicated freight corridor, MGNREGA and RTI, together make a formidable front against corruption. He promised the Congress was determined to bring Right to Health.

Linking women to banks and providing them access to credit would be another priority he said because India cannot be a superpower if it did not empower women who form 50 percent of the population. He assured the youth of the state that in the coming months millions of jobs would be created with the building of the dedicated industrial corridors with road and rail connectivity.
