Rahul Gandhi addressed a public rally in Jaipaiguri, West Bengal on March 25, 2014.

Criticizing the state ruling party, TMC, for their inadequate work, Rahul Gandhi stated that the large amount of funds sent to West Bengal by the Central Government have not been effectively utilized. While addressing the party rally, Rahul Gandhi also spoke of the steps taken by the Congress party to empower people and promote inclusive growth.

"We want to take everyone along in the process of development, which is why we send funds from the Centre to improve the development of infrastructure and roads. These funds have not reached people, and the insufficient development in West Bengal is a result of this issue. Congress has announced several welfare schemes and rights-based legislations, but the implementation at the local level has been poor," said Rahul Gandhi.

Rahul Gandhi also threw light on the hypocrisy of the TMC government. "People had hoped the new government will work for development, for education, for creating jobs and employment, but unfortunately the TMC Government has done the same thing for which it fought against the communists," he added.

He stated that the party will help realize the dreams of millions of young men and women of the state when it forms the government this year.

    "It is indeed disappointing to see MNERGA not being implemented properly in the state. The Congress led UPA government sent money to the West Bengal government, but the funds lie unutilized. The money does not reach the poor and weaker sections...We gave the whole country, right to food. Mamta Ji's government has not implemented it," he said at a massive rally in Maldaha Uttar.

    Accusing the local government ofstalling the progress of the state, Rahul Gandhi said that theTrinamool Congress has failed to live up to the expectations and hopes of the people of West Bengal.

    "We worked with the Trinamool Congress, hoping that they will remove the Left Front from the state and bring a development-oriented government. The red flag was replaced by the green flag, but the ideology is the same, the work is the same," he said at a massive rally at Debra, West Medinipur.

    Rahul Gandhi added that the Trinamool government has worked only for the benefit of its workers, while the others, especially the poor and the weaker sections of the society, continue to languish.
