The Bombay High Court has asked the BCCI to consider shifting of IPL matches out of Pune following severe drought conditions in the state. Earlier in the day, the BCCI told the court that sewage treated water would be supplied to stadiums in Mumbai and Pune for maintaining pitches in IPL matches. The judges also asked the board whether it can contribute to the Chief Minister's drought relief fund. As the BCCI said it had supplied 40 lakh litres of water to stadiums per day for IPL tournaments so far, the judges asked whether it was ready to supply the same quantityto water-starved villages in and around Pune. The matter has been adjourned till tomorrow.

    he 14th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will be resuming in the United Arab Emirates later this year. The BCCI Vice-President Rajiv Shukla confirmed the news on Saturday soon after the Special General Meeting (SGM) of the board. This is not a surprise given the current situation in India and more so, there will reluctance among overseas players after what transpired earlier this month during the tournament.

    The competition had to be postponed indefinitely due to the COVID cases inside the bio-secure bubble. Some of the foreign players also contracted the virus while Australian cricketers had to stay in Maldives with their government banning all entries from India including their own citizens.

    However, BCCI, in its statement, has stated that the decision to play the IPL 2021 in the UAE has been taken keeping in mind the monsoon season in India during that period. “The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Saturday announced to complete the remaining matches of VIVO Indian Premier League 2021 season in the United Arab Emirates (U.A.E) considering the monsoon season in India in the months of September-October this year.

    “The decision was taken at a Special General Meeting (SGM) held virtually, where members unanimously agreed to resume IPL,” the statement read.

    The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Wednesday released the list of Indian cricketers' central contracts and grades in which many names were present but Mohammed Shami was not given any place in any grade. It is worth mentioning that Shami on his wife Hussein has made very serious allegations, including allegations like fraud, torture and making illegal relations. On Wednesday morning, as soon as the case caught up with social media, the eyes of everyone were stuck on whether the BCCI would also take any action against Shami and got an answer with the contract listing in the evening.

    Shami's name is not included in the list of 26 contracted players that the BCCI has released, while he played a key role in India's only Test victory in the recent tour of South Africa. Shami took 5 for 28 in the second innings of the match. This led to speculation about Shami being excluded from the contract list, and a top BCCI official told PTI that the board had stopped his name by keeping his allegations leveled by his wife Haseen Jahan.

    The official said, "The BCCI has taken cognizance of all the reports related to Mohammad Shami's personal life. This is not entirely a matter of personal matters and BCCI has nothing to do with it. But if the woman related to this case is met with the Police Commissioner in Kolkata, then it would be prudent for BCCI to wait for some kind of official investigation.

    He said, "Hence the name of Mohammed Shami has been removed from the central contract list issued today. We would like to repeat again that this decision has nothing to do with Shami as a player, but it has been taken in the present circumstances for the defense. "It is believed that BCCI is concerned that if Shami If the charges imposed are proved right then the image of the board may be bad.
