The 12-digit Unique Identification Number was made compulsory for services including bank accounts, PAN cards, cell phone services, passport and even driving licenses.

A five-judge bench led by Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra, Justice A K Sikri, Justice A M Khanwilkar, Justice D Y Chandrachud, Justice Ashok Bhushan pronounced its verdict on the petition filed against the Aadhaar.
