लोकसभा चुनाव के पहले चरण के लिये आज 20 राज्यों की 91 सीटों के लिये मतदान लगभग शांतिपूर्ण रहा. शाम पांच बजे तक के आंकड़ों के मुताबिक बिहार में सबसे कम 50 फीसदी मतदान हुआ और पश्चिम बंगाल में सबसे ज्यादा 81 फीसदी मतदान देखा गया. उप चुनाव आयुक्त उमेश सिन्हा ने बताया कि पहले चरण के चुनाव में मतदान का स्तर सामान्य रहा. सिन्हा ने कहा कि अंतिम आंकड़े आने तक यह स्तर पिछले चुनाव की तुलना में लगभग बराबर ही होगा
