There are two possibilities that a US Government shutdown could occur. 1) If the Senate or the President refuses to accept the trimmed back 2011 spending plan. 2) Congress must approve more government debt or the government will shut down.

    ധനബില്‍ പാസാവാത്തതിനെ തുടര്‍ന്ന് അമേരിക്കയില്‍ സാമ്പത്തിക അടിയന്തരാവസ്ഥ.

    ഒരു മാസത്തെ ചെലവിനുള്ള പണം സെനറ്റ് അനുവദിക്കാതായതോടെയാണ് സാമ്പത്തിക പ്രതിസന്ധി.
    ബില്ലില്‍ വേണ്ട 60 വോട്ടുകള്‍ നേടാനാകാതെ സെനറ്റില്‍ നടന്ന വോട്ടെടുപ്പ് പരാജയപ്പെട്ടു.
    സര്‍ക്കാരിന്റെയും ഏജന്‍സികളുടെയും പ്രവര്‍ത്തനത്തിനാവശ്യമായ ധനബില്‍ സെനറ്റില്‍ പാസാകാതിരിക്കുമ്പോഴാണ് 'ഷട്ട് ഡൗണ്‍' വേണ്ടിവരുന്നത്. ആഭ്യന്തര സുരക്ഷ, എഫ്ബിഐ തുടങ്ങിയ അടിയന്തര സര്‍വീസുകളുടെ പ്രവര്‍ത്തനത്തിന് ആവശ്യമായ പണമാണു പാസാക്കാന്‍ സാധിക്കാതിരുന്നത്.
    'ഷട്ട് ഡൗണി'ന്റെ സമയത്ത് 40 ശതമാനത്തോളം പേര്‍ക്കുള്ള ശമ്പളവിതരണം തടസ്സപ്പെടുകയും ജോലി നഷ്ടപ്പെടുകയും ചെയ്യും. അതേസമയം, സൈനിക മേഖലകളില്‍ ജോലി ചെയ്യുന്നവരെ പ്രശ്‌നങ്ങള്‍ ബാധിക്കില്ല.
    ഒബാമ പ്രസിഡന്റായിരുന്ന 2013 ല്‍ 16 ദിവസത്തോളം ഭരണകൂടം കനത്ത പ്രതിസന്ധി നേരിട്ടു. അത്രയും ദിവസങ്ങള്‍ ഭരണം നിലച്ച അവസ്ഥയായിരുന്നു. പ്രതിസന്ധി ഉണ്ടായ സമയത്ത് ദേശീയ ഉദ്യാനങ്ങളും സ്മാരകങ്ങളും അടച്ചു പൂട്ടിയത് വലിയ പ്രതിഷേധത്തിന് ഇടയാക്കിയിരുന്നു. ട്രംപ് ഭരണകൂടം ഒരു വര്‍ഷം തികക്കുന്ന സമയത്താണ് ഭരണപ്രതിസന്ധിയെന്നത് റിപ്പബ്ലിക്കന്‍ പാര്‍ട്ടിയെ ആശങ്കയിലാഴ്ത്തുന്നു.
