Krishi Kalyan Cess Comes Into Force At 0.5% On Taxable Services

A new Cess, Krishi Kalyan will be levied over and above the service tax as well as the Swach Bharat Cess from today. Finance Minister, Arun Jaitely proposed the Krishi Kalyan cess in this years budget which is at 0.5% on taxable services. With the aim of boosting rural infrastructure in India, the new cess will be levied from all taxable services in addition to the Swach Bharat cess of 0.5% and the existing service tax of 14%.

    Krishi Kalyan Cess of 0.5 per cent, proposed by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley during his budget speech, will come into effect from Wednesday and is expected to make restaurant bills, mobile phones, cinemas, visits to beauty parlours, air travel, insurance, DTH, credit and debit cards, courier, healthcare, banking and professional consultancies costlier.

    Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (Hindi: राष्ट्रीय कृषि विकास योजना, lit. 'National Agriculture Development Programme') is a State Plan Scheme of Additional Central Assistance launched in August 2007 as a part of the 11th Five Year Plan by the Government of India. Launched under the aegis of the National Development Council, it seeks to achieve 4% annual growth in agriculture through development of Agriculture and its allied sectors (as defined by the Planning Commission (India)) during the period under the 11th Five Year Plan (2007–11).

    Rashtriya Gokul Mission:
    The “Rashtriya Gokul Mission” has been launched by the Government for conservation and development of indigenous breeds in a focused and scientific manner. The mission also envisages establishment of integrated cattle development centres. Gokul Grams to develop indigenous breeds including upto 40% nondescript breeds. Rashtriya Gokul Mission is a focused project under National Programme for Bovine Breeding and Dairy Development, with an outlay of Rs 500 crore during for three years from 2014-15 to 2016-17.
