Eddie Murphy Dead? Then who’s hawking Beverly Hills Cop TV series?

If Eddie Murphy were dead — according to online rumors Murphy died (again) in a snowboarding accident in Switzerland — he would not be planning to turn his "classic" (between quotes) 1984 comedy Beverly Hills Cop into a television show. Vulture reports that Murphy, The Shield creator Shawn Ryan, and Sony Pictures Television will be joining forces to bring the fish-out-of-water cop Axel Foley — and/or his son and/or a cop buddy — to the small screen.
In addition to acting as the show’s executive producer, Murphy will apparently also act as an actor on the pilot and make special appearances on the show. Who is going to be cast as the Son of Beverly Hills Cop and his buddy remain a mystery.
We’ll soon find out if Murphy will be luckier on the small screen than he has been on the big one (A Thousand Words, Tower Heist). Another Eddie Murphy venture that didn’t pan out was his Academy Awards hosting gig, following the departure of Oscarcast co-producer Brett Ratner.

    Eddie Murphy Dead? Another Death Hoax Claims Actor Dies in Snowboarding Accident

    Eddie Murphy is dead according to rumors sparked by the Global Associated News. However, the news has been confirmed as just another death hoax, and the "Nutty Professor" actor is alive and well.
    A report was originally released by the attention seeking website claiming that Murphy had been killed in a snowboarding accident in Switzerland. The fake claim also stated that he had lost control of his board and gone crashing into a tree, suffering critical injuries.
    The "news" report stated: "The actor & novice snowboarder was vacationing at the Zermatt ski resort in Zermatt, Switzerland with family and friends. Witnesses indicate that Eddie Murphy lost control of his snowboard and struck a tree at a high rate of speed."
    It further added that Murphy was "air lifted by ski patrol teams to a local hospital, however, it is believed that the actor died instantly from the impact of the crash. The actor was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident and drugs and alcohol do not appear to have played any part in his death."
    Fans immediately took to social media sites to discuss the death, with many not initially realizing whether it was true or not.
    However, the report was proven to be false and a disclaimer was in fact published on the website saying the death was a hoax and that it was simply written for "entertainment."

    Eddie Murphy is alive and well despite a report Friday that the actor was killed in a snowboard accident in Zermatt, Switzerland.

    The rumor quickly caught fire and spread around the Internet with fans wondering if Murphy, who starred in "Tower Heist" and "Beverly Hills Cop," had really been killed.
    The full report from Global Associated News is complete fiction, according to a disclaimer at the bottom of the web page. It appears to be an Onion-esque website without the wit.

    "Fake ...This story is 100% fake! This is an entertainment website, and this is a totally fake article based on zero truth and is a complete work of fiction for entertainment purposes," a disclaimer at the bottom of the page reads.

    The fabricated story seems to have taken Murphy's name and replaced previous mentions of celebrity deaths.
