The benchmark BSE Sensex is down 19.01 points to 26746.64 and the NSE Nifty has declined 5.65 points to 8198.05. The BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices have slipped 0.3 percent on weak market breadth.

    Sen$ex down 5.17 points, rupee depreciates by 7 paise

    Markets remains slump for second consecutive day on Tuesday today, BSE index Sensex is down 5.17 points or 0.02 per cent at 28,090.17 and the 50-share NSE index Nifty was down 5.35 points or 0.06 per cent at 8,630.30. Among major losers on BSE were Lupin, HDFC Ltd, Axis Bank, Dr Reddy's, Hero MotoCorp, Infosys, HDFC Bank and ICICI Bank, which fell up to 0.78 per cent in early trade. Barring auto and healthcare, all other BSE sectoral indices were trading in the green. Top five Sensex gainers are Axis Bank, Tata Steel, Wipro, Reliance. The rupee depreciated by 7 paise to 67.42 against the dollar in early trade today on increased demand for the US currency from importers.

    ജിയോയുടെ വരവോടെ രാജ്യത്തെ ടെലിക്കോം കമ്പനികള്‍ നേരിടുന്ന പ്രതിസന്ധി ജീവനക്കാരിലേക്കും.കടുത്ത സാമ്പത്തിക പ്രതിസന്ധി നേരിടുന്ന രാജ്യത്തെ ടെലികോം കമ്പനികള്‍ ഇത്തവണ ജീവനക്കാര്‍ക്ക് ശമ്പള വര്‍ധന നല്‍കുന്നില്ല. ഇതിനൊപ്പം വാര്‍ഷിക ബോണസില്‍ 50 ശതമാനം കുറവ് വരുത്താനും കമ്പനികള്‍ തീരുമാനിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. ടെലിക്കോം മേഖലയില്‍ ജോലിചെയ്യുന്ന ഏകദേശം 30 മുതല്‍ 40 ശതമാനം ജീവനക്കാരെ പ്രതികൂലമായി ബാധിക്കുന്നതാണ് ഈ തീരുമാനം. അതേ സമയം ഉന്നത ഉദ്യേഗസ്ഥര്‍ക്ക് അഞ്ച് മുതല്‍ ഒമ്പത് ശതമാനം വരെ ശമ്പള വര്‍ധനവ് നല്‍കാനാണ് കമ്പനികള്‍ തീരുമാനം. 2016ല്‍ കുറഞ്ഞ നിരക്കുകളുമായി ജിയോ രംഗത്തെത്തിയതോടെ മറ്റ് കമ്പനികള്‍ കടുത്ത പ്രതിസന്ധി നേരിടുകയായിരുന്നു.
    ഇതാണ് ശമ്പള വര്‍ധനനവില്‍ നിന്ന് പിന്നോട്ട് പോകാന്‍ കമ്പനികളെ പ്രേരിപ്പിച്ചത്.
