'मैंने ज़ायरा का बयान पढ़ा और मैं समझ सकता हूं और कल्पना कर सकता हूं कि उसने किन हालात में ये सब लिखा होगा। ज़ायरा...मैं तुम्हें बताना चाहता हूं कि हम सब तुम्हारे साथ हैं। अच्छी बात यह है कि तुम जैसे बुद्धिमान, युवा, प्रतिभावान, मेहनती, सम्मानजनक, दूसरों का ख्याल रखने वाले और हिम्मती बच्चे, सिर्फ भारत में ही नहीं, दुनिया भर के बच्चों के लिए रोल मॉडल हैं। तुम तो मेरी भी रोल मॉडल हो। मैं सबसे अपील करता हूं कि उसे अकेला छोड़ दें और इस बात का ख्याल रखें कि वह महज़ 16 साल की लड़की है, जो अपने दम पर जिंदगी के साथ कुछ अच्छा करने की कोशिश कर रही है।
