Sensex zooms 200 pts, Nifty nears 11,550; BPCL climbs 6% on divestment news

After falling for two straight sessions in a row, the BSE Sensex rebounded over 250 points in opening trade on Tuesday, led by gains in bank stocks. Likewise, the NSE gauge Nifty rose about 70 points in opening deals. The 30-share Sensex recovered 250.06 points or 0.65 per cent to trade at 38,917.39. While the broader Nifty was up 69.30 points or 0.60 per cent at 11,543.75 in opening trade. The Sensex gain was led mainly by Yes Bank, Axis bank, ICICI Bank, PowerGrid, Tata Motors and HDFC Bank.

  • Sensex zooms over 250 pts amid positive global cues; Nifty tops 11,250

    Headline indices Sensex and Nifty opened with healthy gains on Tuesday taking cues from their Asian counterparts. At 9:17 AM, the S&P BSE Sensex was trading at 37,328.35, up 274.25 points while the broader Nifty50 was ruling at 11,252.65, up 84.60 points.

  • Sensex zooms 793 pts on FMs mini Budget Nifty tops 11,000

    An up to 3 per cent rout in Asian stocks could not deter domestic stocks rallying over 1 per cent in Monday’s trade, thanks to US president Donald Trump's comments on trade negotiations with China and FM Nirmala Sitharaman’s ‘mini-Budget’ that offered sops to the ailing banking, auto and NBFCs sectors and eased FPI concerns by rolling back tax surcharge announced in the Budget. The BSE Sensex jumped over 650 points in opening trade, but only to slip into negative terrain. It fell over 200 points, before staging a smart rebound. The 30-pack index eventually settled the day 793 points, or 2.16 per cent, higher at 37,494.12. The NSE counterpart Nifty50 closed at 11,057.84, up 228.50 points, or 2.21 per cent.

  • Sensex zooms 250 pts ahead of RBI policy outcome, Nifty above 11,350; bank stocks gain

    After falling for four straight sessions in a row, the BSE Sensex rebounded over 250 points ahead of RBI policy outcome in opening trade on Friday, led by gains in bank stocks. Likewise, the NSE gauge Nifty rose about 70 points in opening deals. All eyes are now set on the Reserve Bank of India’s monetary policy review, where the central bank is widely expected to cut repo rates. The 30-share Sensex recovered 255.45 points or 0.67 per cent to trade at 38,362.32. While the broader Nifty was up 72.30.30 points or 0.64 per cent at 11,386.30 in opening trade.

  • Sensex zooms 87 pts on positive Asian cues, Nifty ends at 11,341

    The BSE benchmark Sensex closed 87 points higher after a volatile session on Monday, helped by positive Asian equities in the wake of a preliminary trade deal between the US and China. After swinging 448 points, the 30-share Sensex ended 87.39 points, or 0.23 per cent, higher at 38,214.47. It hit an intra-day high of 38,513.69 and a low of 38,066.13. The broader NSE Nifty too rose 36.10 points, or 0.32 per cent, to end at 11,341.15.

  • Sensex zooms 170 pts, Nifty ends above 11,850; bank, IT stocks rally

    Market benchmark Sensex rebounded over 170 points after a volatile session, helped by fag-end buying in mainly banking and IT stocks. After swinging 322 points during the day, the 30-share Sensex ended 170.42 points, or 0.42 per cent, higher at 40,286.48. Similarly, the broader NSE Nifty rose 31.65 points, or 0.27 per cent, to end at 11,872.10.

    Equity Benchmark indices opened on a positive note in early session on Thurday, driven by gains in auto and bank stocks. At 09:18 am, the BSE S&P Sensex was up by 160 points at 38,752.77 while the Nifty 50 gained by 54 points at 11,494.10. Trading is expected to be volatile as the Futures and Options (F&O) contracts for the September series expires today.

    22 Covid & non-Covid patients allegedly died following a 'mock oxygen drill' in UP. A viral video purportedly of a hospital owner in Agra has sparked a major controversy. In the video, the man is heard saying that he got oxygen supply from patients snapped for 5 mins. The man, in the video, added that this was part of an experiment to know who all will survive. Reports suggest the video is purportedly of Arinjay Jain, owner of Paras Hospital on NH 2. UP health dept has ordered a probe into the incident after the video went viral.
