“We are ready as ever,” India U-16 National Coach Bibiano Fernandes, India U-16 National Team coach Bibiano Fernandes said on the U-16 team’s arrival in Tashkent, Uzbekistan on Saturday (September 14) for the forthcoming AFC U-16 Qualifiers.

India have been clubbed with hosts Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, and Bahrain in Group B in the qualifiers, and first play Turkmenistan on September 18. Bibiano’s boys are currently on an 11-match winning streak, that extends from their tour of Thailand, to the SAFF Championship, and down to the two friendlies they played in Turkey, earlier this week.

“The team is as ready as ever for the AFC Qualifiers. We have all been preparing for these three matches for months now. We have our sights set firmly on them,” Bibiano stated after the team landed in Tashkent.

The 42-year-old believes that apart from playing in an invitational tournament (Torneo Del Nazioni) in Italy, and the two exposure tours in Thailand and Turkey, the Blue Colts also gained valuable experience of playing competitive International matches in the SAFF U-15 Championship last month.

“We have had a good preparation for the tournament over the last couple of months. The SAFF Championship certainly gave the boys good experience of International football, whereas we faced some tough opponents in Turkey. So all in all, it has been a was a good rehearsal.”

In regards to acclimatising in Uzbekistan, the head coach feels the boys would not have any issues in adjusting to the conditions after playing in the harsh weather back in Kalyani, West Bengal.

“I don’t think the weather in Uzbekistan would be much of an issue. It is basically optimum temperatur

  • India u16 Vs Palestine u16 AFC CUP Match highlights HD {3-0}

    India scored three goals in the second half to blank Palestine 3-0 in the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Under-16 Championship 2018 Qualifiers at the Halchowk Stadium here on Wednesday.

    Givson Singh Moirangthem opened the scoring off an impeccable free-kick in the 51st minute, while Bekey Oram doubled the lead on the 72nd minute. The result was put beyond doubt when skipper Vikram Pratap added a third on the 79th minute.

    India came very close to breaking the deadlock early on itself, when on the eighth minute Oram's shot whizzed just wide of the goal.

    In the 25th minute, Givson, who was operating as a free-player in the middle, drove in from the middle but Ricky John Shabong was not on the same wavelength.

    Perhaps the biggest chance of the first-half for India came in the 28th minute when Harpreet Singh's volley ricocheted off the crossbar leaving the Indian dugout disappointed.

    Gurkirat Singh also had a crack at goal from a good 30 yards out but the Palestine goalkeeper had no trouble dealing with it.

    After the half time interval, Givson stunned the Palestine goalkeeper in the 51st minute when his right-footed free-kick found the target leaving the custodian stranded at the other end.

    Bekey then converted a meticulous cross from Ricky to double the lead in the 72nd minute.

  • India u16 Vs iraq u16 Full match highlights HD™ || AFC ||

    The young Blues failed to clinch maximum points once again and will now now have to wait for results from the other groups to confirm qualification...
    India were held to a goalless draw by defending Asian Champions Iraq in the AFC U-16 Championship Qualifiers at the Halchowk Stadium in Kathmandu on Sunday.

    A second consecutive draw means that India end their group stage ties in the competition with five points out of a maximum nine, with a big win against Palestine followed by two draws against Nepal and Iraq aiding the cause.

    Meanwhile, Iraq who finished their engagements with 7 points from 3 matches have already booked a ticket to the AFC U-16 Finals slated to be held next year.

    Knowing that only a victory would enable them a ticket to the AFC U-16 Finals, India started on a positive note and should have surged into the lead as early as the 6th minute itself but the swift Bekey, despite sneaking in from the flanks, could not get the power behind his shot and the Iraqi goalkeeper managed to save it.

    Iraq's physical prowess enabled them to boss the midfield and as a result, the India Colts failed to produce clear-cut chances regularly. Both sides went in at the break without having broken the deadlock.
