Mansukh Mandaviya meets 'Bharat Ki Laxmi'

Hon’ble Minister of State for Shipping (IC) Shri Mansukh Mandaviya meets two women mariners as a part of a movement of ‘Bharat ki Laxmi.’

Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has motivated the citizens of the country to meet and greet prominent women of the country on the occasion of Diwali this year and urged them to share their stories with the youth of the nation.

Enlightened by the call of Hon’ble Prime Minister, Hon’ble Minister of Shipping (IC) met two women mariners at Kolkata on the auspicious day of ‘Laxmi Pujan’ (Dhan Teras).
1. Ms. Nilofer Naha –

• Ms. Nilofer Naha is the first and only woman marine pilot of the country.

• There are only 5-6 women marine pilots across the globe, she is one among them.

• She is the only woman pilot in the world who is doing pilotage in the river; River pilotage is considered to be most difficult.

2. Ms. Sarbari Das
