गलतबयानी के लिए एसआईटी चीफ ने सिगरेट से दागा था : आरवीएस मणि
पूर्व गृह सचिव जीके पिल्लई के बाद गृहमंत्रालय के ही एक दूसरे अधिकारी के खुलासे से आक्रामक भाजपा ने तत्कालीन गृहमंत्री पी. चिदंबरम के साथ कांग्रेस के शीर्ष नेतृत्व को कठघरे में खड़ा कर दिया और केंद्र सरकार से जांच कराने की मांग की। कुछ दिन पहले पिल्लई ने साफ साफ कहा था कि इशरत का नाम एफिडेविट से हटाने का फैसला राजनीतिक स्तर से लिया गया था। गृह मंत्रालय में अंडर सेक्रेटरी रहे आरबीएस मणि ने भी इसकी पुष्टि कर दी और यहां तक बताया कि उससे गलत बयान लेने के लिए टॉर्चर भी किया गया था। यहां तक कि एसआईटी चीफ सतीश वर्मा पर उन्होंने सिगरेट से दागने का भी आरोप लगाया है।

भाजप-रिपाइंकडून कांबळे यांची कन्या हिमाली कांबळे तर राष्ट्रवादीकडून धनंजय गायकवाड यांच्यासह अन्य पाच अपक्ष उमेदवार निवडणुकीच्या रिंगणात होते. बुधवारी पावसामुळे केवळ 20.78 टक्के इतकेच मतदान झाले होत.
