    India has achieved a lot since independence and is today the world's largest democracy and sixth largest economy. Over the next 25 years, as we celebrate #AazaadiKaAmritMahotsav, the nation will be transformed through sustained inclusive growth. India now aims higher, be it in terms of economic growth, being the leader in combating climate change, or taking the podium at major sporting events. It is also appropriate that we recognize the sacrifices made by so many during the independence struggle as well as by those who continue to put their lives at risk even now to protect the nation. If there is one symbol that ties us together as well as pays tribute to those who have made India what it is today it is our national flag. I will be proudly hoisting the Tiranga at my home to celebrate our 75th Independence Day and hope all of you will too: FICCI SVP Mr Subhrakant Panda.

  • Employment & investment to be the key priorities in Budget 2019: FICCI President

    Talking to BloombergQuint about the expectations from Finance Minister Ms Nirmala Sitharaman’s maiden budget, FICCI President Mr Sandip Somany stressed on employment and investment generation being the key priorities in the Union Budget 2019-20. He said that the Government has been divesting between Rs 80,000 crore and Rs 90,000 crore from Central PSUs and this target needs to be raised significantly to well in excess of Rs 1 lakh crores for the year. He added that not only the shares need to be sold, but also excess land with these PSUs as well as idle assets, factories, loss making units need to have much more comprehensive policies in terms of disposal.

We are extremely fortunate to have grown up in a free and independent India. Looking back, we are proud of the immense achievements of our nation. We have excelled in every sphere, be it education, entrepreneurship, infrastructure, science, technology, sports, medicine, and space. Whilst what we have achieved in the last 75 years has been remarkable, the best is yet to come, as the future belongs to India.

    The three columns of our beautiful Tiranga represents courage, peace and prosperity. I will be proudly hoisting the national flag to reinstate our commitment towards building a safe, equitable and inclusive India. I encourage all my fellow Indians to participate in #HarGharTiranga initiative led by our respected Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi ji.
