  • Employment & investment to be the key priorities in Budget 2019: FICCI President

    Talking to BloombergQuint about the expectations from Finance Minister Ms Nirmala Sitharaman’s maiden budget, FICCI President Mr Sandip Somany stressed on employment and investment generation being the key priorities in the Union Budget 2019-20. He said that the Government has been divesting between Rs 80,000 crore and Rs 90,000 crore from Central PSUs and this target needs to be raised significantly to well in excess of Rs 1 lakh crores for the year. He added that not only the shares need to be sold, but also excess land with these PSUs as well as idle assets, factories, loss making units need to have much more comprehensive policies in terms of disposal.

I will be proudly hoisting the national flag to reinstate our commitment towards building a safe, equitable and inclusive India.     Commenting on the Union Budget 2019-20 presented today by the Finance Minister Ms Nirmala Sitharaman, Mr Sandip Somany, President, FICCI said that directionally the budget is good, and it takes forward the plan that was laid out by the government during the Interim budget. There are several positives in the budget, and it provides a set of benefits for most segments of the society.
