    असम में रहने वाले 40 लाख हिन्दुओं और मुस्लिमों के नाम राष्ट्रीय नागरिक रजिस्टर (एनआरसी) में नहीं आने के मामले में #जमीयत_उलमा-ए-हिन्द के राष्ट्रीय अध्यक्ष मौलाना अरशद मदनी ने कहा कि वे असम में ऐसे लोगों की हर संभव मदद करेंगे। उन्होंने कहा कि राष्ट्रीय नागरिक रजिस्टर में असम के लगभग चालीस लाख लोग ऐसे हैं, जिनके नाम उस लिस्ट में नहीं है।.

    यह एक बड़ी तादाद है। इनमें हिंदू और मुस्लिम दोनों ही समुदाय के लोग हैं। उन्होंने कहा कि जमीयत-उलेमा-ए-हिंद हमेशा से उनके केस को लड़ती रही है। आज भी हम उनके लिए तैयार हैं। हम आखिरी हद तक इन लोगों की लड़ाई बिना किसी भेदभाव के लड़ेगी। मोलाना मदनी ने कहा कि चाहे वह हिंदू हो या मुसलमान जिनके नाम नेशनलटी की लिस्ट में नहीं आए हैं । उनके पास किसी भी तरह का सन 1971 से पहले का कोई भी सबूत होगा तो वे उसको पेश कर सकते हैं।

    उन्होंने कहा कि हम उनके केस को आसम में भी लड़ेंगे और जरूरत पड़ी तो सुप्रीम कोर्ट में भी उनका केस लड़ेंगे। उन्होंने कहा कि इस मसले पर मुसलमानों को शांत रहना चाहिए, घबराना नहीं चाहिए। हमारे यहां होम मिनिस्टर बहुत जिम्मेदार शख्सियत है। वह यह कह रहे हैं हमने दरवाजे खुले रखे हैं। लोग अपने-अपने सबूतों को पेश करें और जिनके सबूत काबिले कबूल होंगे तो उनको एनआरसी के अंदर दाखिल किया जाएगा। लिहाजा, जमीयत उलमा-ए-हिंद उन लोगों के लिए जो भी संभव होगा उन मदद करेगी।
