    പിങ്ക് നിറത്തില്‍ തടാകമുണ്ട്. ആസ്ട്രേലിയയില്‍ .ആസ്ട്രലിയ യുടെ പടിഞ്ഞാറെ തീരത്തായി കാണപെടുന്ന പിങ്ക് നിറത്തിലുള്ള ഉപ്പുവെള്ള തടാകമാണ്‌ ഹില്ലെർ.600 മീറ്റർ ചുറ്റളവുള്ള ഈ തടാകത്തിനു ചുറ്റും മണല പരപ്പും പേപ്പർബാർക്ക്‌ , യൂക്കാലിപ്റ്റിക്സ് മരങ്ങളും ആണ്. നിറത്തിന് കാരണം മുഴുവനായും കണ്ടുപിടിക്കാൻ കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടില്ലെങ്കിലും ചിലതരം ആൽഗകൾ ( സൂഷ്മമായ പായൽ ജീവികൾ) ആണ് ഇതിനു കാരണം എന്ന് ശാസ്ത്രലോകം പറയുന്നു.ഭൂമിയിലെ ആദ്യ സസ്യവിഭാഗമാണ് ആൽഗകൾ. നമുക്ക് കാണുവാൻ കഴിയാത്തതു മുതൽ 60 മീറ്ററോളം നീളത്തിൽ വളരുന്ന കെൽപ്പുകൾ (kelps)എന്ന വൻ സസ്യവിഭാഗങ്ങൾവരെ ആൽഗകളിലുണ്ട്.മാത്യു ഫ്ലിന്ടെർ എന്ന പ്രകൃതി നിരീക്ഷകൻ 1802 ൽ ആണ് ഈ തടാകം കണ്ടു പിടിച്ചു രേഖപ്പെടുത്തിയത് എന്ന് പറയപ്പെടുന്നു.

    ഇന്ത്യയിലെ ഏറ്റവും ഉയരത്തിലുള്ള രണ്ടാമത്തെയും ലോകത്തിലെ 15ാമത്തെയും തടാകമാണ് ഗുരുദോഗമര്‍.സമുദ്ര നിരപ്പില്‍നിന്ന് 17100 അടി ഉയരത്തിലാണ് തടാകം സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്നത്. വര്‍ഷത്തിലെ മിക്ക മാസങ്ങളിലും തണുത്തുറഞ്ഞ അവസ്ഥയിലാണ് തടാകം. ഗുരുദോഗമര്‍ തടാകത്തിന് പേര് ലഭിച്ചത് ബുദ്ധ സന്യാസിയായ പത്മസംഭവയുടെ നാമത്തില്‍ നിന്നാണ്. അദ്ദേഹം ഗുരുദോഗമര്‍ എന്നും അറിയപ്പെട്ടിരിന്നു. ജലലഭ്യത കുറവാണെന്ന് ജനങ്ങള്‍ ഒരിക്കല്‍ പരാതി പറഞ്ഞപ്പോള്‍ ഗുരു തടാകത്തിന്‍ന്‍റെ ഒരു ഭാഗത്ത് സ്പര്‍ശിച്ചുവെന്നും ആ ഭാഗം എത്ര കൊടും തണുപ്പിലും തണുത്തുറയില്ല എന്നുമാണ് വിശ്വസം. ബുദ്ധമത വിശ്വാസികള്‍ വളരെ പവിത്രമായി കരുതുന്ന തടാകമാണിത്.ഗുരുനാനാക് ഇവിടെ സന്ദര്‍ശിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട് എന്ന വിശ്വാസത്തില്‍ സിഖ് മതസ്ഥരും ഇതൊരു പുണ്യസ്ഥലമായി കരുതുന്നു. തണുത്തുറഞ്ഞ അവസ്ഥയിലും മനോഹരമാണ് തടാകം. പരിസരത്തായി പ്രയര്‍ ഫ്ളാഗുകള്‍. ബുദ്ധമത വിശ്വാസികളുള്ള ഇടങ്ങളിലെല്ലാം ഇത്തരം ഫ്ളാഗുകള്‍ ധാരാളം കാണാം. ഗുരുദോഗമര്‍ തടാകം ടീസ്റ്റ നദിയുടെ പ്രധാന സ്രോതസ്സുകളിലൊന്നാണ്. മറ്റൊരു സ്രോതസ്സായ ചോലാമു ഇന്ത്യയിലെ ഏറ്റവും ഉയരത്തിലുള്ള തടാകമാണ്.
