केंद्रीय गृह मंत्रालय ने शुक्रवार को नागालैंड और अरुणाचल प्रदेश के 12 जिलों और दो पूर्वोत्तर राज्यों के पांच जिलों के कुछ हिस्सों में सशस्त्र बल (विशेष अधिकार) अधिनियम (AFSPA) को और छह महीने के लिए बढ़ा दिया है। गृह मंत्रालय ने यह फैसला इसलिए लिया है ताकि सशस्त्र बलों का उग्रवाद विरोधी अभियान जारी रह सके।गृह मंत्रालय ने अरुणाचल प्रदेश के 4 जिलों में अफस्पा कानून (AFSPA) को अगले 6 महीने के लिए बढ़ाने का फैसला किया है। गृह मंत्रालय ने कहा, “अरुणाचल प्रदेश में तिरप, चांगलांग और लोंगडिंग जिले के अलावा नामसाई जिले में नामसाई और महादेवपुर पुलिस स्टेशन के अधिकार क्षेत्र में आने वाले क्षेत्रों में सशस्त्र बल (विशेष शक्तियां) अधिनियम, 1958 को आज से 6 महीने के लिए बढ़ा दिया है। इन क्षेत्रों को अशांत क्षेत्र घोषित किया गया है।”वहीं नागालैंड के नौ जिलों और चार जिलों के 16 पुलिस स्टेशनों को ‘अशांत क्षेत्र’ घोषित किया गया है। यहां भी आज से छह महीने की अवधि के लिए AFSPA बढ़ा दिया गया है। गृह मंत्रालय द्वारा जारी अधिसूचना के अनुसार AFSPA को नगालैंड के जिन नौ जिलों में बढ़ाया गया है, उनमें दीमापुर, निउलैंड, चुमौकेदिमा, मोन, किफिरे, नोकलाक, फेक, पेरेन और जुन्हेबोटो शामिल है। इसके साथ नागालैंड के चार अन्य जिले कोहिमा, मोकोकचुंग, लोंगलेंग और वोखा के अंतर्गत आने वाले 16 पुलिस स्टेशनों में AFSPA बढ़ाया गया है।

Mehbooba pitches for withdrawal of AFSPA from some areas
Ahead of the by-polls in Jammu and Kashmir, Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti today raked up the issue of revocation of controversial Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) from some areas and "see the impact".
Mufti, who has taken a strong position against militants, pitched for revocation of AFSPA, saying she required a "window of peace" for ensuring good governance to "shrink the space" occupied by militants.
