    പുകവലിയ്‌ക്കെതിരെ ലോകത്തെ ഞെട്ടിക്കുന്ന തീരുമാനവുമായി മാള്‍ബറോ നിര്‍മ്മാതാക്കളായ ഫിലിപ് മോറിസ് ഇന്റര്‍നാഷണല്‍. ലോകോത്തര സിഗരറ്റ് ബ്രാന്‍ഡുകളായ മാള്‍ബറോ, പാര്‍ലമെന്റ്, ബെന്‍സണ്‍ ആന്‍ഡ് ഹെഡ്ജസ് എന്നിവയുടെ നിര്‍മ്മാണം നിര്‍ത്തുകയാണ് ഫിലിപ് മോറിസ്. പുകവലിരഹിത ഭാവിക്കായുള്ള നിര്‍ണായക ചുവടുവെപ്പെന്ന് അവകാശപ്പെട്ടുകൊണ്ടാണ് ഈ തീരുമാനം പ്രഖ്യാപിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത്. സിഗരറ്റ് ഉപേക്ഷിക്കാന്‍ ആഹ്വാനം ചെയ്ത് പുതുവര്‍ഷ പ്രതിജ്ഞയായി ബ്രിട്ടനിലെ പ്രധാന ദിനപത്രങ്ങളില്‍ കമ്പനി കഴിഞ്ഞ ദിവസം പരസ്യം നല്‍കി ഞെട്ടിച്ചിരുന്നു. അതിന് പിന്നാലെയാണ് സിഗരറ്റ് നിര്‍മ്മാണം തന്നെ നിര്‍ത്തുകയാണെന്ന് കമ്പനി പ്രഖ്യാപിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത്.
