    വ്രതാനുഷ്ഠാനം ആരോഗ്യ സംരക്ഷണത്തിലും കാര്യമായ പങ്കു വഹിക്കുന്നെന്നാണ് പഠനം . വ്രതാനുഷ്ഠാന സമയത്ത് മനുഷ്യന്‍റെ ആമാശയത്തിന് വേണ്ട രൂപത്തിലുള്ള വിശ്രമം കിട്ടുന്നു.തന്മൂലം ഈ ഒരു മാസത്തെ കാലയളവില്‍ ഭക്ഷണത്തിലൂടെയും മറ്റും മനുഷ്യശരീരത്തില്‍ അടിഞ്ഞുകൂടുന്ന വിഷാംശങ്ങളെ വേണ്ടവിധം പുറംതള്ളാന്‍ ശരീരത്തിന് അവസരം കിട്ടുന്നു. ശരീരത്തിന്റെ അമിത ഭാരം കുറയ്ക്കാനും വ്രതാനുഷ്ഠാനം വലിയ ബുദ്ധിമുട്ടില്ലാത്ത രൂപത്തില്‍ സഹായിക്കുന്നു. വ്രതം നല്ല ഉറക്കം തരുന്നതായും കണ്ടെത്തിയിട്ടുണ്ട്.വ്രതം അനുഷ്ഠിക്കുന്ന സമയം( 12-13 മണിക്കൂര്‍ )കൊണ്ട് ശരീരത്തിലെ ജലാംശം കുറഞ്ഞുപോകുന്നു. വ്രതം മുറിക്കുന്നത് കാരയ്ക്ക (ഈന്തപ്പഴം) കൊണ്ടോ, വെള്ളം കൊണ്ടോ ചെയ്യാനാണ് മുഹമ്മദ് നബി (സ) നമ്മെ പഠിപ്പിച്ചത്. നോമ്പ് മുറിക്കുന്നത് വളരെ ലഘുവായ ഭക്ഷണം കൊണ്ടാവണം. പഴവര്‍ഗങ്ങള്‍, പഴച്ചാറുകള്‍, ധാരാളം വെള്ളം, തരിക്കഞ്ഞി മുതലായവ ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്നതാണ് ഉത്തമം.ദേഹേച്ഛകള്‍ക്ക് കടിഞ്ഞാണിടാന്‍ കഴിയുന്ന മനസ്സും നല്ലൊരു ശരീരവും പാകപ്പെടേണ്ടതുണ്ട്. അത്തരം ഉദ്ദേശ്യത്തോടെ തന്നെയാവട്ടെ നാം ഓരോരുത്തരും നോമ്പ് മാസത്തെ വരവേല്‍ക്കുന്നതും
