'Govt's failures have made another national lockdown inevitable': Rahul Gandhi writes to PM Modi
Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Friday wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi saying his government's lack of a clear and coherent Covid and vaccination strategy, as well as its hubris in declaring premature victory as the virus was exponentially spreading, has placed India in a highly dangerous position. He also said that government's failures have made another national lockdown almost inevitable, and to prevent a repeat of the manifold suffering caused by last year's lockdown, the government must act with compassion and provide critical financial and food support to "our most vulnerable people".

Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge has demanded that the government should make public the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) report that formed the basis for the ouster of CBI Director Alok Verma, which has been disowned by retired Supreme Court Judge A.K. Patnaik, causing embarrassment to the government. He also termed the appointment of M. Nageshwara Rao as the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) interim Director "illegal" and sought an immediate meeting of the high-level Screening Committee to appoint a new Director.

"We will have all modern infrastructures in that corridor. Today China is the manufacturing capital of the world. We want India to replace China in the future. We want to see 'Made in India' and not 'Made in China' label on all the watches, cameras. Thousands of industries that are going to come up in these corridors will be the backbone of India. About 10 crore jobs will be generated once we complete this. We also will provide loans to crores of people to establish businesses," said Rahul Gandhi.

22 Covid & non-Covid patients allegedly died following a 'mock oxygen drill' in UP. A viral video purportedly of a hospital owner in Agra has sparked a major controversy. In the video, the man is heard saying that he got oxygen supply from patients snapped for 5 mins. The man, in the video, added that this was part of an experiment to know who all will survive. Reports suggest the video is purportedly of Arinjay Jain, owner of Paras Hospital on NH 2. UP health dept has ordered a probe into the incident after the video went viral.
