IMD rejects claims made by ONGC, says 'cyclone Tauktae did not change its path'

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has rejected claims made by the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) that Cyclone Tauktae changed its path. IMD sources told Times Now that they issued warnings every 3 hours to the ONGC about the cyclone.

National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) is well prepared ahead of Cyclone Tauktae striking the coasts of Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Gujarat and Maharashtra, NDRF officials said on Friday.

    Gusty winds and heavy showers lashed Mumbai and its neighbouring areas on Monday as the "very severe cyclonic storm" Tauktae headed towards Gujarat, uprooting trees and disrupting local train services in the metropolis, officials said. The IMD has warned of extremely heavy rain and wind speed upto 120 kmph over the next few hours, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said in the afternoon.
