The Gujarat High Court pulled up the state government on Monday over the COVID-19 situation in the state and problems being faced by citizens, saying the reality is contrary to what the government claims. "People now think that they are at God's mercy," a division bench of Chief Justice Vikram Nath and Justice Bhargav Karia said while hearing a PIL, taken up suo motu (on its own), on the situation in the state.

Claims of normalcy in Kashmir 'contrary' to ground situation: Farooq Abdullah

National Conference (NC) president Farooq Abdullah today alleged that the claims of normalcy in Kashmir made by the central and state governments were "contrary" to the ground situation in the region.

The former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister also claimed that there was a "growing sense of alienation" among the people, especially the youth.

"Those claiming things have improved in Kashmir after the mayhem, bloodshed and misery of 2016, are contradicting the ground reality in an effort to escape their own culpability and responsibility.

"The fact remains that our youth today are more isolated and alienated than ever before, and feel hopeless and dismayed," he said at a public meeting in Khan Sahib assembly constituency's Hardpanzoo area in Budgam district.

The CheckPoint Research team also discovered the fastest ever encrypting ransomware ever seen, all of which demonstrates how attackers are continuing their rampant crimes and never looking back.

  • Covid-19 surge: WHO says double mutant strain in India as 'variant of concern'

A Covid-19 variant spreading in India, which is facing an explosive outbreak, appears to be more contagious and has been classified as being "of concern", the World Health Organization said Monday. The UN health agency said the B.1.617 variant of Covid-19 first found in India last October seemed to be transmitting more easily than the original version of the virus, and might possibly have some increased resistance to vaccine protections.
