The 2nd part of the series 'Pathbreakers' profiles three women community leaders and their quest to lead the oppressed and underprivileged towards empowerment. Kamla is India's first barefoot solar engineer. She has trained men and women in her village to construct lamps and create energy within the village and thereby run night schools for educating the villagers. Congress, a young girl who became the poster child for UNICEF, defied social norms to defend herself against child marriage. Vidya in her service to the environment mobilises her community to take steps towards conservation and preservation of the mountains. Underlying all these stories is a common metaphor- to make the lives of the underprivileged a matter of sustained importance.

The film will be sensitive to the ethos of our society and endorse the sentiment of service to humanity without attaching any commercial value to it. We propose to pay tribute to those real heroes, girls and women, who have made a difference by questioning the norms of the society and doing things that changed not only their own lives for the better but also enhanced the quality of life of others.   • PATHBREAKERS EP 5 - In conversation with Madhurika Patkar, Commonwealth Games Gold Medalist

    Table Tennis player, Madhurika Patkar came into the limelight after winning a Gold medal at the 2018 Commonwealth Games held in Australia.

    Madhurika talks about how she discovered her passion for Table Tennis and the support she received from her family and federations.

    She introduces her coach, Miss Shailaja Gohad and the academy where she began her training. Miss Gohad describes Madhurika’s personality and determination to succeed.

    Madhurika describes how she emerged victorious at the National Ranking tournament despite carrying an injury. Her husband, Omkar Torgalkar is a Table Tennis player himself. He talks about Madhurika being an inspiration to the next generation.

    She sheds light on her dreams for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and shares a message to girls who have found their passion for sports regardless of wanting to pursue it as a career or otherwise.

    Woman Grandmaster and International Master, Tania Sachdev took up the sport of Chess at the age of five after she drew inspiration from her father’s efforts to teach her brother.

    She talks about how her parents realized her love and potential in Chess and the success she initially achieved in tournaments by playing against experienced players.
