Highway to the Asian Century' is a journey along the development of Asian highway network, a new artery project that connects the Himalayas to the Pacific Ocean, and seeks to foster India's initiative to expand on its cultural, commercial and diplomatic ties with the rest of South-east Asia through a common development route. Traversing through the socio-economic confluence of various civilizations on route, bound by cross-cultural exchange that has sustained for centuries, the film maps the arc of the project and its objectives to promote transport and communication, and envisages it as a stepping-stone for building a formidable Asian economic community- a pathway to the realization of the Asian Century
