The body of a man bearing signs of torture and strangulation was recovered in south Kashmir's Pulwama district on Sunday, said police. Police identified the victim as Mohammad Shafi Sofi and said he appeared to be in the mid-20s. Sofi was a salesman at a business unit of Shah Electronic Shop in Srinagar, said police.

Una : In the rainy season, once again the cases of scrub typhus have started appearing in district Una. After the cases of scrub typhus came to the fore in the hilly areas of the district, the health department issued an alert and appealed to the people to take precautions. It has also been urged to consult a doctor immediately in case of complaints like headache, fever and vomiting. So far in this rainy season, five cases of scrub typhus have come to the fore in Bangana and Amb sub-divisions of the district during preliminary investigation. It is caused by the bite of a very small animal like a flea. Although initially it is possible to treat fever after it is identified, but if this fever worsens due to any reason, then it can also prove to be fatal.
