The land mark legislation to guarantee jobs for the poor in the villages, free education for the children upto 14 years, mid-day meal scheme for the school children, facility to avail loan at a lower interest rate for the women through Self Help Groups (SHG) for women, drinking water facilities, electricity in villages under Rajiv Gandhi Rural Electrification scheme, various health care schemes to ensure adequate medical facilities for the poor are some of the achievements of the Congress-led UPA Government at the centre. I am also confident that lots of people are reaping benefits of these schemes across the country" added the Congress President.
