Korea vs South Africa - Men's Rabobank Hockey World Cup 2014 Hague Pool B [06/6/2014]
"The second Men's Pool B game of Friday saw Korea up against South Africa in the 2014 Rabobank Hockey World Cup.
Both teams came into the game having lost their first two matches of the tournament, and the first half was a cautious affair with no clear cut chances. Korea went close with a shot from Kim Seong-kyu that just went wide of the post, but neither team could break the deadlock and halftime arrived with the score 0-0.
Julian Hykes almost gave South Africa the lead in the 39th minute when he broke away but fluffed his lines when he was one-on-one with the keeper and shot wide. The two hard-working, disciplined teams did not look like scoring and when Korea did score from a penalty corner it was disallowed after the South Africans asked for a video referral. Goalkeeper Lee Myung-ho then made three excellent saves in quick succession to keep Korea in the game. Neither side were able to score and the game finished as the first 0-0 tie of the 2014 World Cup.By Puneet Munjal | 459 views

Belgium vs Australia - Men's Rabobank Hockey World Cup 2014 Hague Pool A [06/6/2014]
Day 5 in Group A saw the highly anticipated clash between Belgium and Australia. With top spot up for grabs, Australia shot out of the blocks taking an early lead through Ciriello who fired in from a penalty corner. The Aussies weren't done there though and doubled their lead with an incisive breakaway goal, Turner teeing up Whetton after seeing his initial shot blocked.
The Australians started the second half in the same manner as they started the first getting an early goal and putting clear daylight between themselves and Belgium through a fine solo goal by Ockenden. This time around though Belgium had a reply and Dockier pulled one back giving the Red Lions hope of staging an unlikely comeback. But it was the Kookaburras who finished the half stronger, shutting the game out to return to the top of Group A.By Puneet Munjal | 515 views
England vs Australia - Men's Rabobank Hockey World Cup 2014 Hague Pool A [07/6/2014]
Two countries famed for their sporting rivalry met in day 7, game 4 of the men's draw -- England v Australia. Stakes were even higher too with the winners of the match going a long way to booking themselves an all-important place in the next round.
A dream start for Australia saw them take the lead though in the opening 30 seconds of the half when England were caught napping and Matt Gohdes made them pay. De Young's second must have had England beginning to worry after he tapped in from Ciriello's saved penalty corner but nothing could have prepared England for what was about to follow. Dwyer tapped in a third before Govers scored a goal of the tournament candidate just on the half time whistle.
England's misery didn't stop there though as three minutes after the restart as Zalewski made it 5 for Australia. The Kookaburras superiority was made further evident as they continued to press and look for the sixth but England had their goalkeeper to thank as he kept the Aussies at bay on a couple of occasion from penalty corners. But the damage had already had already been done and Australia maintained their unbeaten record, beating their great rivals in some style.By Puneet Munjal | 564 views
Australia vs Netherlands - Women's Rabobank Hockey World Cup 2014 Hague Pool A [07/6/2014]
"The highly anticipated game between host nation Netherlands and Australia was the evening game of day seven of the 2014 Rabobank Women's Hockey World Cup.
Current Olympic champions the Netherlands started the game being pinned back by the Australian offense, and keeper Joyce Sombroek had to make an amazing save in the 9th minute to keep the Hockeyroos at bay. Neither team could force a goal before the break and the half ended 0-0.
The second half was as tense as the first and the Dutch were guilty of wasting a couple of penalty corner chances when Maartje Paumen didn't hit the target with her shots. Kelly Jonker then missed a deflection right in front of goal from a Kim Lammers pass. Almost immediately, Australia missed a golden opportunity to score through Ash Nelson. The Netherlands then raced down the other end of the pitch and Kim Lammers deflected in a pass from Jonker to make it 1-0 in the 57th minute. Naomi van As put the Oranje up 2-0 in the 65th minute after a hopeful video referral from the Australian team. The quality of the Dutch team was enough to ensure they prevailed with the win and secure a place in the semi-finals.By Puneet Munjal | 679 views
