કેન્દ્ર સરકાર દ્વારા રજૂ કરાયેલા નેશનલ મેડિકલ કમિશન બિલના વિરોધમાં ઈન્ડિયન મેડિકલ એસોસિએશન દ્વારા સુરત સહિત સમગ્ર દેશમાં વિરોધનો વંટોળ ઉઠ્યો છે. આઈએમએના ડોક્ટર્સ આ બિલને ગરીબ વિરોધી, પ્રતિનિધિત્વ વગરનું, બિન લોકશાહી અને એન્ટી-ફેડરલ ગણાવે છે. ત્યારે સમગ્ર દેશમાં 3 લાખ જેટલા તબીબો હડતાળ પર ઉતર્યા છે. તો ગુજરાતમાં 25000 જેટલા તબીબોએ આ બિલનો વિરોધ દાખવ્યો છે.
