    A Malaysia Airlines flight carrying 227 passengers and 12 crew lost contact with air traffic controllers early on Saturday en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing, the airline said in a statement.

    KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia -

    Statement By Our Group Chief Executive Officer, Ahmad Jauhari Yahya on MH370 Incident. Released at 9.05am/8 Mar 2014 MY Local Time
    We deeply regret that we have lost all contacts with flight MH370 which departed Kuala Lumpur at 12.41 am earlier this morning bound for Beijing.
    The aircraft was scheduled to land at Beijing International Airport at 6.30am local Beijing time.

    Subang Air Traffic Control reported that it lost contact at 2.40am (local Malaysia time) today.

    Flight MH370 was operated on a Boeing B777-200 aircraft.

    The flight was carrying a total number of 239 passengers and crew -- comprising 227 passengers (including 2 infants), 12 crew members. The passengers were of 13 different nationalities.

    Malaysia Airlines is currently working with the authorities who have activated their Search and Rescue team to locate the aircraft.

    Two objects have been seen that could possibly relate to the missing Malaysia Airlines plane, Australian PM Tony Abbott has announced.

    Australian vessels have been searching in the southern Indian Ocean for the aircraft, which disappeared on 8 March with 239 people on board.

    Mr Abbott said the objects had been identified on satellite imagery.

    An Orion aircraft had been sent to the area to try to locate the objects, Mr Abbott told parliament.

    Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 was flying from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing when it lost contact with air traffic controllers.

    Twenty-six nations have been involved in a major search for the missing aircraft.

    "The Australian Maritime Safety Authority has received information based on satellite information of objects possibly related to the search," Mr Abbott said.

    "Following specialist analysis of this satellite imagery, two possible objects related to the search have been identified."

    Mt Abbott warned, however, that finding the objects would be very difficult and said they could turn out to be unrelated to the aircraft.

    A number of sightings of possible debris have been investigated in the search for the plane but so far none have proved to be related.

At 10:25 A.M. Eastern Time, air traffic control issued a revised clearance for the flight to shorten its course to the Preston holding point (near South Amboy, New Jersey) by 12 miles (19 km). The United plane was supposed to circle the holding point at an altitude of 5,000 ft (1,500 m) at no more than 240 mph (210 kn; 390 km/h).
