पुणे में लॉ छात्रों के संगठन Lawyers for Earth Justice ने राष्ट्रीय ग्रीन ट्रिब्यूनल में एक याचिका दायर की है, जिसमें कंडोम के उचित निपटारे की मांग की गई है, याचिका में कहा गया है कि कंडोम एक अपरिवर्तनीय अपशिष्ट है, इसलिए इसे अनुचित तरीके से निपटाने के दौरान यह न केवल प्रदूषण को आमंत्रित करता है बल्कि कई बीमारियों के लिए एक गुंजाइश भी बना रहता है.याचिकाकर्ता असिम सरोड ने कहा की प्रयुक्त कंडोम को एक अलग तरह के कचरे के रूप में माना जाना चाहिए और इसे कैटेगराइज़ किया जाना चाहिए, कंडोम सैनिटरी कचरे में शामिल है, फिर भी हम देखते हैं कि लोग किसी अन्य कचरे की तरह कंडोम को इधर उधर फेंक देते हैं, यही कारण है कि यह बायोडिग्रेडेबल अपशिष्ट के साथ मिश्रित हो जाता है जबकि गैर-जैव-अवक्रमणीय होता है.
