    They are sorely missing two crucial cogs in their lineup: Ben Stokes and Jofra Archer. As if the absence of two key players had any small impact, another overseas option, pacer Andrew Tye, opted out owing to COVID-related concerns.

    Despite a ballistic batting order, the Royals failed to capitalize on the advantage that some true surfaces at the Wankhede offered to them. Their top-order seems frozen. After Stokes’ ouster, Jos Buttler has not performed to the team’s expectation at the top, while Manan Vohra, after four failed attempts, has been swapped with Yashasvi Jaiswal. The youngster looked fluent against Capitals but wasted his start. It would be harsh, though, to judge him early, more so when another one was backed by the team for four games.

The Sunrisers will go into the next game on the back of a hefty loss to the Delhi Capitals.

    The Kings, on the other hand, slumped to a shock defeat at the hands of Rajasthan Royals. With four runs needed off the last over, they succumbed to Kartik Tyagi’s guile. The KL Rahul-led team is languishing at the seventh spot in the points table and need a win to climb the ladder in the table.

    KL Rahul has been in tremendous form with the bat, although his team has flattered to deceive to some extent. In eight matches, the right-hander has notched 380 runs at an average of 63.33 and a strike rate of 137.68. Moreover, the fact that he has scored four half-centuries shows the rhythm he is in. Rahul will be looking to carry on with his rich vein of form.

    KL Rahul has been outstanding for the Kings in the tournament. In 12 matches, the right-hander has notched 528 runs at an average of 52.80 and a strike rate of 129.09. Having smashed five half-centuries, he has looked in ominous touch. In the previous game against RCB, he score 39 runs, though his efforts came in a losing cause. He will look to do well in the crunch game.
