'India Beat Great Britain 2-1 to Win Johor Cup Title'

An aggressive final of the 4th Sultan of Johor Cup played at the Taman Daya Hockey Stadium in Johor Bahru saw the Indian Junior Men’s Hockey team stealing the show away from Great Britain with the final score of 2-1 and retaining the title of the Sultan of Johor Cup for the second time. Hero of the match Harmanpreet Singh was the top scorer of the tournament with a total of 9 goals. Singh also took home the trophy for player of the tournament. Indian colt’s captain, Harjeet Singh was adjudged most promising player of the tournament.

The first half of the match was fought hard between the two sides where Indian goalie Abhinav Pandey saved some crucial goal attempts from the rivals. The first 35 minutes also saw both the teams penetrating each other’s D but failing to break each other’s defence and open their account.

It was in the 46th minute when India earned its first penalty corner and a flawless conversion by Harmanpreet Singh. The Brits replied with a penalty corner in the 56th minute where Samuel French converted to level the scores.

Hero of the match Harmanpreet Singh gave all Indians reason to rejoice and seal the game 2-1 when he converted another PC with only 45 seconds remaining in the match.
