    2001-ലെ ആന്റണി മന്ത്രിസഭയെ മറിച്ചിടാൻ ജെ.എസ്.എസിന് ഉപമുഖ്യമന്ത്രിപദവും മന്ത്രിസ്ഥാനവും വൻതുകയും വാഗ്ദാനംചെയ്തെന്ന് വെളിപ്പെടുത്തൽ. ശനിയാഴ്ച ജെ.എസ്.എസ്. ലയനസമ്മേളനത്തിനുശേഷം എ.എൻ. രാജൻബാബുവാണ് ഇക്കാര്യം വെളിപ്പെടുത്തിയത്.അന്ന് ജെ.എസ്.എസിന് നാല് എം.എൽ.എ.മാരുണ്ടായിരുന്നു. ജെ.എസ്.എസ്. നേതാവ് കെ.ആർ. ഗൗരിയമ്മയ്ക്കായിരുന്നു ഉപമുഖ്യമന്ത്രിപദം വാഗ്ദാനംചെയ്തത്. മന്ത്രിസ്ഥാനം എം.എൽ.എ.യായിരുന്ന പാർട്ടി പ്രസിഡന്റ് എ.എൻ. രാജൻബാബുവിനും.മൂല്യാധിഷ്ഠിതരാഷ്ട്രീയത്തിൽ മുറുകെപ്പിടിച്ചുള്ള ഗൗരിയമ്മയുടെ നിലപാടുമൂലമാണ് അന്ന് ഒരു അട്ടിമറി ഒഴിവായതെന്ന് രാജൻബാബു പറയുന്നു.
    കെ. കരുണാകരനുമായി ചേർന്ന് മന്ത്രിസഭ മറിച്ചിടാനുള്ള നീക്കത്തിന് ചുക്കാൻപിടിച്ചത് അന്ന് പ്രതിപക്ഷനേതാവായിരുന്ന വി.എസ്. അച്യുതാനന്ദനായിരുന്നുവെന്നുംനിയമസഭയിൽ നടത്തിയ പ്രസംഗത്തിൽ അദ്ദേഹം പറഞ്ഞു, ‘ഞങ്ങളുടെ നാല്പത് സീറ്റ് സ്ഥിരനിക്ഷേപമായി ഇടുന്നു. ആർക്കും ഉപയോഗിക്കാം’. ഇതേത്തുടർന്ന് കോൺഗ്രസ് ഐ വിഭാഗത്തിലെ 21 പേർക്കൊപ്പം കേരള കോൺഗ്രസ് ബി, ടി.എം. ജേക്കബ്, ആർ.എസ്.പി. ബാബു ദിവാകരൻവിഭാഗം തുടങ്ങിയവരെല്ലാം ചേർന്ന് 67 എം.എൽ.എ.മാരെ സംഘടിപ്പിച്ചു. ഇതിനൊപ്പം ജെ.എസ്.എസിന്റെ നാലുപേർകൂടി ചേർന്നാൽ ബദൽ മന്ത്രിസഭയുണ്ടാക്കാം. ഇതിലേക്ക് ആദ്യം ആർ.എസ്.പി. നേതാവാണ് ദൂതനായി വന്നത്. പിന്നീട് കരുണാകരന് സംസാരിക്കണമെന്ന് പറഞ്ഞ് ശോഭനാ ജോർജ് വിളിച്ചു. പത്മജയും കരുണാകരനും സംസാരിച്ചു. അവസാനം വി.എസ്. കൊല്ലം ആശ്രാമം ഗസ്റ്റ് ഹൗസിലെത്തി ഗൗരിയമ്മയെ കണ്ടു. വിവരമറിഞ്ഞ് എ.കെ. ആന്റണി ഗൗരിയമ്മയെ വിളിച്ച് ‘ഇതെന്താണ് ഗൗരിയമ്മേ’ എന്ന് ചോദിച്ചു. ‘ഒന്നും സംഭവിക്കില്ല, ധൈര്യമായി ഇരുന്നുകൊള്ളൂ’ എന്നായിരുന്നു ഗൗരിയമ്മയുടെ മറുപടി.അട്ടിമറിക്ക് ഗൗരിയമ്മ കൂട്ടുനിൽക്കില്ലെന്ന്‌ മനസ്സിലായപ്പോൾ അവരെ ഒഴിവാക്കി പാർട്ടിയുടെ മറ്റ് മൂന്ന് എം.എൽ.എ.മാർക്കായി വലവീശിയെന്നും തന്നെ ഇതിനായി ബന്ധപ്പെട്ടുവെന്നും രാജൻബാബു പറയുന്നു. മന്ത്രിപദവിയും വൻതുകയുമായിരുന്നു വാഗ്ദാനം. പക്ഷേ, ആരും അതിൽ വീണില്ലെന്നും രാജൻ ബാബു പറയുന്നു.
