Strike over Article 35A cripples life for 2nd day
JAMMU LINKS NEWS | Life in Kashmir remained severely affected today for the second consecutive day due to a complete shutdown called by separatists against the legal challenge in the Supreme Court on the validity of Article 35A.
The two-day strike called by the Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) -- comprising Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Mohammad Yasin Malik -- comes as the Supreme Court is scheduled to hear a PIL challenging the validity of Article 35A later in the day.

Several trade bodies to join strike ahead of hearing on Article 35A
JAMMU LINKS NEWS | Several trade associations in Kashmir today supported separatist groups' call for a shutdown ahead of the Supreme Court hearing on a PIL challenging the validity of Article 35A of the Constitution.
"The protest of the people of Jammu and Kashmir on this issue is in all purposes legal and necessary...We announce full support to the call of strike given by Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) on 5th and 6th of August," said a joint statement by 27 trade bodies issued here.
The Supreme Court will hear the PIL on August 6.

JAMMU LINKS NEWS | Fresh landslide in Udhampur district forced the closure of the Srinagar-Jammu highway on Monday.
A Traffic Department official said no traffic would be allowed on the highway following the landslides that occurred on Kheri road in Udhampur.

Terrorists abduct Pulwama man from his residence, cops find his bullet-riddled body in nearby fields
JAMMU LINKS NEWS | Terrorists on Monday barged into the house of a resident and abducted him in Jammu and Kashmir. The incident took place in Pulwama's Murran. This incident took place on Sunday night.
Identified as Gulzar Bhat, his bullet-riddled body was recovered from nearby fields.
