जवाली विधानसभा क्षेत्र के कोटला और भेड़खड्ड क्षेत्र में बीते 20 अगस्त को भारी बरसात के कारण पहाड़ियों के दरकने से भारी नुकसान हुआ है। न्यांगल और सोलधा में अब तक 13 घर जमींदोज हो चुके हैं, जबकि 48 से अधिक मकानों को ऐहतियातन खाली करवा लिया गया है। कोटला में भी दो दर्जन से अधिक मकान क्षतिग्रस्त हुए हैं। इसे देखते हुए कृषि एवं पशुपालन मंत्री चंद्र कुमार ने रविवार को कहा कि भविष्य में इस क्षेत्र में भूस्खलन से होने वाले नुकसान को रोकने के लिए अतिसंवेदनशील जगहों पर चरणबद्व तरीके से डंगे (वायर क्रैट वर्क) लगाए जाएंगे। उन्होंने वन, ग्रामीण विकास तथा जलशक्ति विभाग को इस काम के लिए आंकलन रिपोर्ट तैयार करने को कहा है। उन्होंने इस क्षेत्र में बरसात के कारण हुए नुकसान को देखते हुए नालों और कूहलों की चैनलाइजेशन करने को भी कहा है।

    उत्तर प्रदेश में भले ही समाजवादी पार्टी और बहुजन समाज पार्टी के बीच में कोई आपसी चुनावी गठबंधन ना हुआ हो लेकिन यूपी की दोनों लोकसभा सीटों पर समाजवादी पार्टी की बसपा के समर्थन से जीत की खबर से पहले ही कभी धुर विरोधी रहे पार्टियों के लोग एक साथ हाथों में समाजवादी और पीसपर्टी के झंडे थामें अखिलेश यादव जिंदाबाद करते नजर आने की यह तस्वीरें सिद्धार्थनगर जिले की है। जहां पर पीसपर्टी और समाजवादी पार्टी के कार्यकर्ता एक साथ हाथों में झंडे लेकर जुलूस निकालते हुए शहर की सड़कों पर पटाखे फोड़ते और जीत की खुशी का इजहार करने में जुटे हुए हैं। सपा और पीसपर्टी के कार्यकर्ता एक साथ मिलकर दोनों पार्टी के नेताओं की जिंदाबाद करने में भी जुटे हैं। शहर के चौराहे पर ढोल बजाकर डांस करने के अलावा दोनों पार्टियों के कार्यकर्ता एक दूसरे को गले लगाकर जीत का जश्न मनाया।
