കുട്ടികളിലെ ഉയരക്കുറവിന് കാരണമെന്തൊക്കെ?
പൊക്കം വേണമെന്നാണ് എല്ലായ്പ്പോഴുംകുട്ടികളുടെ ആഗ്രഹം. ഉയരം കുറയുമ്പോള്‍ വളരുന്ന അപകര്‍ഷതയുടെ തെളിവുകളാണ് ഉപ്പൂറ്റി ഉയര്‍ന്ന പലതരം ചെരിപ്പുകള്‍. ആണ്‍കുട്ടികളില്‍ 18 വരെയും പെണ്‍കുട്ടികളില്‍ 14 വരെയുമാണ് വളര്‍ച്ചാകാലഘട്ടം. ഈ സമയത്ത് പൊക്കക്കുറവ് കണ്ടെത്തുകയും ശരിയായ ചികിത്സ തേടുകയും വേണം. 18-നുശേഷം ചികിത്സിച്ചതുകൊണ്ട് കാര്യമായ പ്രയോജനം ലഭിക്കില്ല.ഒരു ശരാശരി മലയാളി പുരുഷന്റെ പൊക്കം 170 സെന്റിമീറ്ററും സ്ത്രീയുടേത് 160 സെന്റിമീറ്ററുമാണ്.
പുരുഷനെക്കാള്‍ പൊക്കം കുറഞ്ഞ സ്ത്രീയെ വിവാഹം ചെയ്യുന്നതാണ് നമ്മുടെ സമൂഹത്തിന്റെ രീതി.
ഇതുമൂലം മാതാപിതാക്കളുടെ ശരാശരി പൊക്കം കുറയുകയും അനന്തര തലമുറകളെ ബാധിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യും.90 ശതമാനം കുട്ടികളിലും മാതാപിതാക്കളുടെ ഉയരമാണ് പ്രതിഫലിക്കുന്നത്. മികച്ച ഭക്ഷണം, മാറിയ ജീവിതസാഹചര്യം, നേരത്തേ എത്തുന്ന കൗമാരം എന്നീ കാരണങ്ങളാല്‍ കുട്ടികള്‍ക്ക് ഇപ്പോള്‍ മാതാപിതാക്കളെക്കാള്‍ പൊക്കമുണ്ട്. എങ്കിലും മക്കള്‍ക്ക് പൊക്കക്കുറവ് തോന്നിയാല്‍ വളരുമ്പോള്‍ മാറുമെന്ന പ്രതീക്ഷയില്‍ കാത്തിരിക്കുകയാണ് മാതാപിതാക്കള്‍ ചെയ്യുക. രണ്ടാമത്തെ കുട്ടി ആദ്യത്തേതിനെക്കാള്‍ വേഗത്തില്‍ വളരുമ്പോഴും മക്കള്‍ക്ക് അവരുടെ സമപ്രായക്കാരെക്കാള്‍ പൊക്കം കുറഞ്ഞിരിക്കുമ്പോഴുമാണ് ചികിത്സകളെക്കുറിച്ചു ചിന്തിക്കുന്നത്. ഇങ്ങനെ സംഭവിക്കാതിരിക്കണമെങ്കില്‍ ബാല്യത്തിലേ വളര്‍ച്ച വിലയിരുത്തപ്പെടണം.
പൊക്കക്കുറവിനുള്ള കാരണങ്ങള്‍.മാതാപിതാക്കളുടെ ഉയരം സെന്റിമീറ്ററില്‍ കണക്കാക്കി അതിന്റെ തുകയെ രണ്ടുകൊണ്ട് ഹരിച്ചാല്‍ കിട്ടുന്ന സംഖ്യയോട് 7.5 കൂട്ടിയാല്‍ ആണ്‍മക്കള്‍ക്കുണ്ടാകുന്ന ഏകദേശ ഉയരം കിട്ടും. പെണ്‍കുട്ടിയാണെങ്കില്‍ മാതാപിതാക്കളുടെ ഉയരത്തിന്റെ ശരാശരിയില്‍നിന്ന് 7.5 കുറയ്ക്കണം. ഉദാഹരണമായി മാതാപിതാക്കളുടെ ഉയരം യഥാക്രമം 185-ം 167-ം ആണെങ്കില്‍ അവരുടെ മകന് 183.5 സെന്റിമീറ്ററും മകള്‍ക്ക് 168.5 സെന്റിമീറ്ററുമാണ് പൊക്കം ലഭിക്കുക.
അച്ഛനമ്മമാരുടെ ഉയരത്തിന് ആനുപാതികമായി കുട്ടിക്ക് പൊക്കമില്ലെങ്കില്‍ എന്തുകൊണ്ട് അങ്ങനെ സംഭവിക്കുന്നുവെന്ന് പരിശോധിക്കണം.
ചികിത്സയ്‌ക്കെത്തുന്ന കുട്ടികളുടെ പ്രായവും മാതാപിതാക്കളുടെ ഉയരത്തിന്റെ ശരാശരിയും ഗ്രോത്ത് ചാര്‍ട്ടുമായി താരതമ്യപ്പെടുത്തിയാണ് പൊക്കക്കുറവ് നിര്‍ണയിക്കുന്നത്. ഋതുമതികളാവുന്നതിനുമുന്‍പുള്ള പ്രായത്തില്‍ പஇவரால் News60 ML | 61 பார்வைகள்
