    കാല്‍നൂറ്റാണ്ടായി തുടരുന്ന നിയമയുദ്ധത്തില്‍ ഐ.എസ്.ആര്‍.ഒ മുന്‍ ശാസ്ത്രജ്ഞന്‍ ഡോ. നമ്ബി നാരായണന് നീതി.ഐഎസ്ആർഒ ചാരക്കേസിൽ ശാസ്ത്രജ്ഞന്‍ നമ്പി നാരായണന് 50 ലക്ഷം രൂപ നഷ്ടപരിഹാരം നൽകണമെന്ന് സുപ്രീം കോടതി.നമ്പി നാരായണനെ അനാവശ്യമായി കസ്റ്റഡിയിലെടുത്തതാണെന്നും പീഡിപ്പിച്ചതാണെന്നും കണ്ടെത്തിയ കോടതി ഇതിലെ ഗൂഢാലോചന അന്വേഷിക്കാന്‍ മുന്‍ ജഡ്ജി ഡി.കെ ജയിന്‍ അധ്യക്ഷനായ സമിതിയേയും നിയോഗിച്ചു. സംശയത്തിന്റെ പേരിലാണ് ഉന്നത പദവിയിലിരിക്കുന്ന ശാസ്ത്രജ്ഞനെ പൊലീസ് അറസ്റ്റു ചെയ്തത്. ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥര്‍ക്കെതിരെ നടപടി വേണോയെന്ന് അന്വേഷിക്കാന്‍ കമ്മിറ്റിയെ നിയമിച്ചു. സുപ്രീം കോടതി ജസ്റ്റിസ് (റിട്ട.) ഡി.കെ.ജയിന്‍ നേതൃത്വം വഹിക്കും. കേന്ദ്ര,സംസ്ഥാന പ്രതിനിധികള്‍ ഈ കമ്മിറ്റിയില്‍ അംഗങ്ങള്‍ ആകും.1994 നവംബര്‍ 30-നാണ് നമ്പി നാരായണന്‍ ചാരക്കേസില്‍ അറസ്റ്റിലായത്.
    കോളിളക്കം സൃഷ്ടിച്ച ഐ.എസ്.ആര്‍.ഒ ചാരക്കേസ് അന്വേഷിച്ച മുന്‍ ഡി.ജി.പി സിബി മാത്യൂസ്, മുന്‍ എസ്.പി.മാരായ കെ.കെ. ജോഷ്വ, എസ്. വിജയന്‍ എന്നീ പൊലീസ് ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥര്‍ക്കെതിരെ നടപടി ആവശ്യപ്പെട്ട് നമ്ബി നാരായണന്‍ ആണ് സുപ്രീംകോടതിയെ സമീപിച്ചത്. തനിക്കെതിരെ കെട്ടിചമച്ച കേസിന്റെ പേരില്‍ അന്വേഷണ ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥരുടെ നടപടി തന്റെ ഭാവിയെയും ഐ.എസ്.ആര്‍.ഒയുടെ പുരോഗതിയെയും ബാധിച്ചു. അമേരിക്കന്‍ പൗരത്വവും നാസയുടെ ഫെലോഷിപ്പും വേണ്ടെന്നുവെച്ച്‌ രാജ്യത്തെ സേവിക്കാനെത്തിയ തന്റെ ഭാവിയാണ് ചാരക്കേസില്‍ തകര്‍ന്നതെന്ന് അദ്ദേഹം കോടതിയില്‍ വ്യക്തമാക്കിയിരുന്നു

    മുന്‍ ഐ എസ് ആര്‍ ഒ ശാസ്ത്രജ്ഞന്‍ നമ്പി നാരായണനെ പത്മ പുരസ്‌കാരത്തിന് ശുപാര്‍ശ ചെയ്തത് ബി.ജെ.പി. രാജ്യസഭാംഗമായ രാജീവ് ചന്ദ്രശേഖര്‍.കള്ളക്കേസില്‍ പെട്ട് പീഡിപ്പിക്കപ്പെടുകയും ജയില്‍വാസം അനുഭവിക്കുകയും ചെയ്ത നമ്പി നാരായണന്‍ നടത്തിയ നിയമപോരാട്ടം കണക്കിലെടുത്ത് അദ്ദേഹത്തെ പത്മ പുരസ്‌കാരമോ തത്തുല്യമായ പുരസ്‌കാരമോ നല്‍കി അംഗീകരിക്കണം എന്നായിരുന്നു പ്രധാനമന്ത്രി നരേന്ദ്ര മോദിക്കയച്ച കത്തില്‍ രാജീവ് ചന്ദ്രശേഖര്‍ ഉന്നയിച്ച ആവശ്യം.2018 സെപ്തംബര്‍ 19-നാണ് അദ്ദേഹം ശുപാര്‍ശക്കത്തയച്ചത്.ഐഎസ്ആർഒയിൽ ക്രയോജനിക് ഡിവിഷന്റെ ചുമതലയുള്ള മുതിർന്ന ശാസ്ത്രജ്ഞനായിരുന്നു നമ്പിനാരായണൻ. ജിഎസ്എൽവിയുടെ വികാസത്തിലേക്ക് നയിച്ച സാങ്കേതിക വിദ്യയിൽ വലിയ സംഭാവന നൽകിയ വ്യക്തിയാണ് അദ്ദേഹം. 'വികാസ്' എൻജിന്റെ മുഖ്യശിൽപിയായിരുന്നു. ചാന്ദ്രയാനും മംഗൾയാനും സാധ്യമാക്കിയത് ഈ സാങ്കേതിക വിദ്യയാണ്. റോക്കറ്റ് - ബഹിരാകാശ സാങ്കേതിക വിദ്യകളിലെ അമരക്കാരനാകുമായിരുന്ന അദ്ദേഹം കേസിൽ പ്രതിചേർക്കപ്പെട്ടതാണ് മുന്നോട്ടുള്ള യാത്രയ്ക്ക് വിഘാതമായതെന്നും രാജീവ് ചന്ദ്രശേഖറിന്റെ ശുപാർശ കത്തിൽ പറയുന്നു. ഐ.എസ്.ആര്‍.ഒയിലെ എല്ലാവരെയും ഭീതിയിലാക്കുന്നതായിരുന്നു നമ്പി നാരായണനെതിരായുള്ള കേസ്.1994 ല്‍ കള്ളക്കേസു ചുമത്തപ്പെട്ട നമ്പി നാരായണന്‍ 50 ദിവസം തടവില്‍ കഴിഞ്ഞു.രാഷ്ട്രീയ ഗൂഢാലോചനയുടെ ഭാഗമായി കെട്ടിച്ചമച്ചതാണ് ഐ.എസ്.ആര്‍.ഒ ചാരക്കേസെന്ന് അന്നത്തെ മുഖ്യമന്ത്രിയുടെ മകള്‍ പത്മജ വേണുഗോപാല്‍ തന്നെ വെളിപ്പെടുത്തിയിരുന്നു .രാജ്യത്തെ ബഹിരാകാശ പദ്ധതികൾക്ക് ഈ കേസ് വലിയ ആഘാതമേല്‍പിച്ചു. ഒടുവില്‍ സുപ്രീംകോടതിയില്‍ നമ്പി നാരായണനു നീതി ലഭിച്ചു.കോടതി പ്രഖ്യാപിച്ച 50 ലക്ഷം നഷ്ടപരിഹാരം കൊണ്ടു മാത്രം നമ്പി നാരായണന്‍ അനുഭവിച്ച അപമാനം മാറ്റിയെടുക്കാനാവില്ല. അദ്ദേഹം നടത്തിയ പോരാട്ടം കണക്കിലെടുത്ത് പത്മയോ തതുല്യമായ പുരസ്‌കാരമോ നല്‍കി ആദരിക്കണം. - പ്രധാനമന്ത്രിക്കയച്ച രണ്ടു പേജുള്ള കത്തില്‍ രാജീവ് ചന്ദ്രശേഖര്‍ ആവശ്യപ്പെട്ടു. കെട്ടിച്ചമച്ച ചാരക്കേസില്‍ കുറ്റവാളികള്‍ക്ക് കടുത്ത ശിക്ഷ ഉറപ്പാക്കണമെന്നും അദ്ദേഹം ആവശ്യപ്പെട്ടു.അതേസമയം നമ്പി നാരായണന് പത്മഭൂഷണ്‍ പുരസ്‌കാരം നല്‍കിയതിനെതിരെ അമൃതില്‍ വിഷം കലര്‍ത്തിയ
