    अक्सर कला प्रदर्शनी देश के पॉश इलाकों में ही नजर आती थी लेकिन अब यह आम लोगों के बीच भी पहुंच रही है। ऐसे ही एक क्षेत्र शास्त्री नगर में विश्व कला दिवस पर एक आर्ट गैलरी का उद्घाटन देश के जाने माने चित्रकार रूपचन्द ने किया।
    दिल्ली के शास्त्री नगर में चित्रकला प्रदर्शनी "आरंभ" का उद्घाटन हुआ।
    उद्घटान के इस मौके पर आर्टिस्ट रूप चंद ने चित्रकला प्रदर्शनी के निदेशक शरू कुणाल बधाई दी कि उन्होंने आर्ट को ऐसे स्थान पर बढावा दिया है जहाँ जरूरत है।
    राष्ट्रपति पदक पुरुस्कार से सम्मानित आर्टिस रूपचंद का कला एवं कला शिक्षा जगत में बड़ा योदान है। इनके शिष्य देशभर में ही नहीं बल्कि अब अमेरिका जैसे देश में जाकर भी कला इंस्टिट्यूट खोलकर कला की शिक्षा दे रहे है।
    यह प्रदर्शनी 15 अप्रैल से 10 मई 2024 तक चलेगी। कला में रुचि रखने वाले लोग प्रतिदिन सुबह 11 बजे से शाम 7 बजे तक इसे देख सकते है।
    Art exhibitions used to be seen mainly in posh areas of the country, but now they are reaching among the common people as well. In a similar vein, on World Art Day, renowned artist Roopchand inaugurated an art gallery in the prestigious locality of Shastri Nagar. The inauguration of the art exhibition "Aarambh" took place in Shastri Nagar, Delhi. On this occasion, artist Roop Chand congratulated the director of the art exhibition, Sharoo Kunal, for promoting art in such places where it's needed. Artist Roopchand, honored with the Presidential Award, has made a significant contribution to the world of art and art education. His disciples are not only in the country but are now also opening art institutes in countries like America to provide art education. This exhibition will run from April 15 to May 10, 2024. People interested in art can visit it daily from 11 am to 7 pm.

  • Indian middle class incapable of Political Leadership : Sociologist Dipankar Gupta

    One of India's most eminent sociologists, Dipankar Gupta, has hit out at those who call themselves the "middle class", saying they are not capable of sustained political action and leadership.

    Calling them "elitist", with disproportionate access to the State's patronage and resources, he dismisses them as agents of social or political change. "Their every step is compromised," he says.

    Gupta describes movements such as Anna Hazare's, or the public outcry and protests about rape and molestation of women, as "stop-gap movements", which do not have a long-term perspective. He feels these movements come up only when issues boil over, and "their attempt is to say that things were wrong in some places and they needed to be corrected".

    "The issues of social dynamism, the uplift of entire society in terms of citizenship – these are things that are rarely attended to," argues the former professor at Delhi's prestigious Jawaharlal Nehru University.

    'There is no middle class in India'

    In a detailed interview with Catch, Gupta surveys the last 70 years of Independence to analyse the emergence of a middle class (or the lack thereof) in the country.

    There is no middle class in India, and it will not emerge unless the State itself takes up the project of creating a middle class, he declares.
