जर्मनी की राजधानी बर्लिन के पास बसा श्प्रेवाल्ड शहर अपनी कुदरती खूबसूरती के लिए मशहूर है. पानी पर आधारित सैर-सपाटे के लिए बड़ी संख्या में सैलानी यहां आते हैं. लेकिन अब श्प्रेवाल्ड का भविष्य अनिश्चित दिख रहा है. कम बारिश और सूखी गर्मियों के अलावा इसे ब्राउन कोल माइनिंग के खत्म होने से भी खतरा है. श्प्रेवाल्ड को बचाने की कमोबेश सारी योजनाएं महंगी और विवादित हैं. यह शहर अपने ऊपर मंडरा रहे खतरे से कैसे निपटता है, इससे पर्यटकों के बीच लोकप्रिय कई अन्य मशहूर शहर भी सबक ले सकते हैं.
