    പരാമര്‍ശം തിരുത്താന്‍ നടപടിയെടുക്കണമെന്ന് ആവശ്യപ്പെട്ട് ഹോര്‍ട്ടികള്‍ച്ചറല്‍ കമ്മീഷണര്‍ ബി.എന്‍ ശ്രീനിവാസ മൂര്‍ത്തി മെയില്‍ അയച്ചു. ഹര്‍വാര്‍ഡ് സ്കൂള്‍ ഓഫ് പബ്ലിക് ഹെല്‍ത്ത് മേധാവിക്കാണ് കത്തയച്ചത്. ബാങ്കോക്കിലെ ഏഷ്യ - പസഫിക് കോക്കനട്ട് കമ്യൂണിറ്റിയില്‍ ഒരു പ്രഭാഷണത്തിനിടെയാണ് മിഷേല്‍സ് വെളിച്ചെണ്ണയെ വിഷം എന്ന് വിളിച്ചത്. 18 രാജ്യങ്ങളുടെ ഔദ്യോഗിക പ്രതിനിധികള്‍ പങ്കെടുത്ത യോഗത്തിലാണ് മിഷേല്‍സ് ഈ പരാമര്‍ശം നടത്തിയത്. തികച്ചും നിഷേധാത്മകമായ പരാമര്‍ശമാണ് കരിന്‍ മിഷേല്‍സ് നടത്തിയതെന്ന് ശ്രീനിവാസ മൂര്‍ത്തി വിമര്‍ശിച്ചു.


    കേരളവും ഇന്ത്യയും കടന്ന് വെളിച്ചെണ്ണ മറ്റ് രാജ്യങ്ങളില്‍‌ വരെ എത്തിയപ്പോള്‍ ഗുണദോഷങ്ങളെ കുറിച്ചും ചര്‍ച്ചകള്‍ തുടങ്ങിയിരുന്നു. വെളിച്ചെണ്ണയുടെ ഉപയോഗം അമേരിക്കയില്‍ വര്‍ധിച്ചതോടെ മുന്നറിയിപ്പുമായി അമേരിക്കന്‍ ഹാര്‍ട്ട് അസോസിയേഷന്‍ രംഗത്തെത്തി. വെളിച്ചെണ്ണയുടെ അമിതോപയോഗം കൊളസ്ട്രോള്‍ കൂടാനും ഹൃദയസംബന്ധമായ അസുഖങ്ങള്‍ക്കും കാരണമാകുമെന്നായിരുന്നു മുന്നറിയിപ്പ്.
    അതേസമയം എല്ലാതരം എണ്ണകളിലും കൊഴുപ്പ് അടങ്ങിയിട്ടുണ്ടെന്നും ഏത് എണ്ണയായാലും പരമാവധി കുറച്ച് ഉപയോഗിക്കണമെന്ന് മാത്രമേ ഇക്കാര്യത്തില്‍ പ്രതികരിക്കാനാവൂ എന്ന് ഹൃദ്രോഗവിദഗ്ധന്‍ രാജേഷ് മുരളീധരന്‍ പറഞ്ഞു.
