Protests against plea challenging Article 35A continue for 3rd day in Kashmir
JAMMU LINKS NEWS | Protests against the legal challenge to Article 35A of the Constitution -- which grants special status to the permanent residents of Jammu and Kashmir -- continued in the Valley for the third consecutive day today.
In Srinagar, moderate Hurriyat Conference chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq led a march from the Jamia Masjid in Nowhatta till Gojwara, a police official said.
The protests took place at several places across Kashmir today, a police official said, adding that the demonstrations remained peaceful.
Another protest march -- led by Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chief Mohammad Yasin Malik -- was taken out after prayers near Bund here, he said.
Protest marches were also taken out near 'Dastageer Sahib' shrine in Khanyar, in Parimpora, Lal Bazar, near Mehjoor Park in Pantha Chowk and Maisuma areas of the city. The protests rocked Kangan and Sonamarg areas of central Kashmir's Ganderbal district, as well as in Bandipora town of north Kashmir, the official said.द्वारा Jammu Links News | 14522 दृश्य
UP govt relaxes Covid lockdown from June 1; weekend restrictions and night curfew to continue
The Uttar Pradesh government on Sunday announced relaxation of lockdown in the state with certain activities allowed from June 1. Uttar Pradesh Chief Secretary R K Tiwari said shops and markets outside containment zones will be allowed to open from June 1 onwards from 7 am to 7 pm for five days (Monday to Friday). Night curfew will remain in place from 7 pm to 7 am, he said. The weekend restrictions or "corona curfew" will remain in place on Saturday and Sunday, the statement said.

Srinagar: Restrictions imposed to thwart Separatists' 'Million March'
The Jammu and Kashmir Government on Saturday imposed restrictions in Srinagar to thwart the 'Million March' call given by Hurriyat Conference (M) chairman Syed Ali Geelani. The restrictions have been imposed in seven police stations of Srinagar. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address a rally at Sher-e-Kashmir Cricket Stadium in Srinagar today. Large numbers of security forces have been deployed in the sensitive areas to maintain calm and to ensure no untoward elements affect the Prime Minister's visit. Restrictions have been imposed in the downtown area as well as around the venue were the Prime Minister is scheduled to address a public rally in valley.

Curfew-like restrictions imposed in downtown Srinagar
Curfew-like restrictions had been imposed as precautionary measures since early this morning in downtown and Shehar-e-Khas (SeK) Srinagar, where people are being directed to remain indoors.
Both the factions of Hurriyat Conference and Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) had yesterday in a joint statement urged people to hold protests after Friday prayers against US action of branding Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) chief Syed Salahuddin as a terrorist.
Following the protest call, District Magistrate, Srinagar, Dr Farooq Ahmad Lone, imposed restrictions under Section 144 of CrPC in area under the jurisdictions of Police Stations Nowhatta, M R Gunj, Rainawari, Khanyar and Safakadal today as a precautionary measure to avoid any untoward incident. However, the situation on the ground was entirely different as people were not allowed to move out of their houses since early this morning in these areas. Restrictions in parts of Srinagar continued for the second day today in view of a strike called by separatists against the recent anti-militancy operations conducted by security forces in the valley.
Restrictions in eight police station areas continued for the second day today, a police official said.
He said the curbs were in force in Khanyar, M R Gunj, Nowahtta, Rainawari, Safakadal, Maisuma, Kralkhud and Parimpora police station areas of the city.

Authorities imposed restrictions in parts of Srinagar city on Wednesday to prevent protests during a separatist called shutdown in the Kashmir Valley, police said.
The Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL), a separatist conglomerate headed by Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umer Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik, called for the shutdown against the killings of civilians in anti-militancy operations.
