कानपुर के पनकी थाना क्षेत्र के रतनपुर निवासी इन्द्रपाल जो कि सीआरपीएफ मे कॉन्स्टेबल है उनकी पत्नी गीता बीती 20 फरवरी को लापता हो गई थी पति ने इसकी सूचना पनकी पुलिस को दी पनकी पुलिस में आनन-फानन में महिला का फोन ट्रेस किया तो उसकी लोकेशन सजेती थाना क्षेत्र अंतर्गत मिली उसके बाद फोन स्विच ऑफ जा रहा था युवती गीता की कॉल डिटेल के चलते पुलिस ने कानपुर देहात में रहने वाले मुख्तार वह पनकी के गंगागंज में प्रॉपर्टी डीलर पुष्पेंद्र को गिरफ्तार किया था । घटना की हक़ीक़त में जहाँ आरोपियों से गीता से प्रेम संबंध सामने आ रहे थे जिसके चलते महिला की हत्या हुई है लेकिन पुलिस ने मामले में बताया कि लूट की घटना को अंजाम देने के बाद आरोपियों ने अपनी पहचान छुपाने के लिए महिला की हत्या कर दी क्योकि महिला आरोपियों को पहले से जानती थी । आरोपियों ने हत्या करके बॉडी को कानपुर देहात के शिवली थाना क्षेत्र के भाऊपुर नाले में फेंक दिया था। पुलिस ने आरोपियों की निशानदेही पर बॉडी को बीती रात को नाले से निकलवाकर कब्जे मे लेकर कानपुर देहात पुलिस ने पोस्टमार्टम के लिये भेज दिया है.
