    പ്ലാന്റിന്റെ രണ്ടാം ഘട്ട വിപുലീകരണ പ്രവർത്തനങ്ങൾക്കു വേണ്ടിയായിരുന്നു സ്ഥലം അനുവദിച്ചത്. സ്ഥാപനം കാരണം
    ആരോഗ്യപ്രശ്നങ്ങളുണ്ടാകുന്നുവെന്ന് പ്രദേശവാസികൾ പരാതി ഉന്നയിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. നിലവിലെ സാഹചര്യത്തിൽ പ്ലാന്റിനെതിരായ
    പ്രതിഷേധവും മറ്റും കണക്കിലെടുത്താണു നടപടിയെന്നും സിപ്കോട്ട് എംഡി കെ. ശ്രീനിവാസന്‍ പറഞ്ഞു. സ്ഥലം കൈമാറുന്നതിനായി കമ്പനിയിൽ നിന്ന് ഈടാക്കിയ തുക തിരികെ നൽകുമെന്നും സിപ്കോട്ട് അറിയിച്ചു.
    പതിമൂന്നു പേരുടെ മരണത്തിന് ഇടയാക്കിയ പ്രതിഷേധത്തിനൊടുവിൽ തൂത്തുക്കുടി സ്റ്റെർലൈറ്റ് ചെമ്പ് ശുദ്ധീകരണ പ്ലാന്റ് അടച്ചുപൂട്ടാൻ
    തമിഴ്നാട് സർക്കാർ കഴിഞ്ഞദിവസം ഉത്തരവിട്ടിരുന്നു. സമീപ പ്രദേശങ്ങളിൽ ആരോഗ്യ പ്രശ്നങ്ങൾക്കു കാരണമാകുന്നുവെന്നു
