    Union minister HN Ananth Kumar, 59, passed away in Bengaluru on November 12, 2018. He was undergoing treatment for cancer.     Banking, transport and other services across the country are likely to be hit as trade unions have called a nationwide strike today, with nearly 25 crore people expected to join an all-India strike to protest against the government's "anti-people" policies. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday hailed the trade unions 'Bharat Bandh' call and said that the "anti-people" and "anti-labour" policies of the centre have created 'catastrophic' unemployment.

    Bus services have been hit in the state causing trouble for passengers as Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) employees are on strike on November 5 over several demands including pay revision. Employee union called a 24-hour strike and demanded increase and timely payment of their salaries, reduction in shift hours and revision in pension plans.

    Bharat Bandh: Rail services hit due to blockade, roads deserted in Odisha
    The two-day nationwide strike called by central trade unions to protest the Centre's alleged anti-worker policies disrupted rail and road traffic in Odisha on Tuesday.
    Train services were hit as trade union activists staged rail roko on the first day of the 48-hour strike at many places including Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Puri, Balasore, Jaleswar, Bhadrak, Sambalpur, Berhampur and Paradip, police said.
    Over a dozen trains were delayed due to blockade of railway tracks by strike supporters, leaving a large number of passengers stranded at many places, they said.
    Roads wore a deserted look with vehicles, including government and private buses refraining from playing, while a large number of passengers were seen stranded in bus stands in many places.

    ട്രേഡ് യൂണിയനുകൾ പിന്തുണയോടെ പണിമുടക്കുകയാണെന്നും പങ്കു ചേരാത്തവരെ തടയില്ല’ എന്നും പറഞ്ഞ നേതാക്കളുടെ വാക്കുകൾ പാലിക്കപ്പെട്ടില്ല; ഹര്‍ത്താലില്‍ മടുത്ത കേരളത്തിനു ഇനി 48 മണിക്കൂര്‍ പണിമുടക്കും ദുരിതം ആകും


    കേരളത്തിൽ അങ്ങോളം ഇങ്ങോളം സമരക്കാർ ട്രെയിനുകൾ തടഞ്ഞു. ഇതോടെ ട്രെയിനുകളുടെ സമയ ക്രമത്തിന് താളം തെറ്റി. എറണാകുളം തൃപ്പൂണിത്തുറയിലാണ് സമരക്കാർ ട്രെയിൻ തടഞ്ഞത്. ജോലി ചെയ്യാൻ മുതിരുന്ന അസംഘടിത തൊഴിലാളികളെ തടയില്ലെന്ന നേതാക്കളുടെ വാഗ്ദാനവും പാഴായി.‘ട്രെയിനുകൾ തടയില്ല, പ്ലാറ്റ്ഫോമിൽ നിന്ന് പ്രകടനം നടത്തുകയേ ഉള്ളൂ’ എന്ന് കൊച്ചിയിൽ പറഞ്ഞത് സിഐടിയു അഖിലേന്ത്യാ സെക്രട്ടറി ചന്ദ്രൻപിള്ളയാണ്. തിരുവനന്തപുരത്ത് സിഐടിയു സംസ്ഥാന സെക്രട്ടറി എളമരം കരീമും ഇതു തന്നെ ആവർത്തിച്ചു.

    യാത്രക്കാർ വഴിയിൽ കുടുങ്ങി ഭക്ഷണം പോലും ലഭിക്കാതെ വലയുന്ന കാഴ്ചയാണുള്ളത്.


    പൊതു ഗതാഗത സംവിധാനങ്ങളെല്ലാം സ്തംഭിച്ചിരിക്കുകയാണ്. ഹർത്താൽ ദിനങ്ങളിൽ ട്രെയിനുകൾ തടയാറില്ല എന്ന പതിവു പോലും തെറ്റിച്ചുകൊണ്ടാണ് സമരക്കാർ ഗതാഗത സംവിധാനങ്ങളെ സ്തംഭിപ്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത്. പണിമുടക്ക് ഹർത്താലായി മാറില്ലെന്നു പ്രഖ്യാപിച്ചെങ്കിലും അതിനേക്കാൾ രൂക്ഷമായ അവസ്ഥയിലാണ് പണിമുടക്ക് കേരളത്തെ ബാധിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത്. സ്വകാര്യ വാഹനങ്ങൾ തടയുന്നില്ല എന്നതു മാത്രമാണ് കുറെപ്പേർക്കെങ്കിലും ആശ്വാസം. കൊച്ചിയിൽനിന്ന് പമ്പയിലേയ്ക്കുള്ള കെഎസ്ആർടിസി ബസുകൾ സർവീസ് നടത്തുന്നുണ്ട്. ഈ ബസുകളിൽ മറ്റ് യാത്രക്കാരെ പ്രവേശിപ്പിക്കുന്നു എന്നതും ആശ്വാസമാണ്.

    പണിമുടക്കിൽ നിന്ന് ഒഴിവാക്കിയെന്നു പ്രഖ്യാപിച്ചിരുന്ന കൊച്ചി തുറമുഖത്തു രാവിലെ സമരക്കാർ തൊഴിലാളികളെയും ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥരെയും തടഞ്ഞിരുന്നു.


    പിന്നീട് സംഭവം വാർത്തയായതോടെ സമരക്കാർ പിൻമാറിയിട്ടുണ്ട്. കൊച്ചി ഷിപ്പ് യാർഡിലും സമരക്കാർ പ്രധാന ഗേറ്റുകളിൽ തമ്പടിച്ചിരിക്കുകയാണ്. തൊഴിലാളികളെ അകത്തു കടക്കാൻ അനുവദിച്ചിട്ടില്ല. ഇവിടെ സമരക്കാരെ തടയുന്നതിന് പൊലീസ് നടപടി സ്വീകരിക്കുന്നില്ല. സമരക്കാർക്ക് അനുകൂലമായ നിലപാടാണ് പൊലീസ് ഇവിടെ സ്വീകരിച്ചിട്ടുള്ളത്.
