साल 2014 के विधान सभा चुनाव में बीजेपी 37 सीटों पर जीत हासिल कर सबसे बड़ी पार्टी बनकर उभरी थी। वहीं एनडीए गठबधंन को 42 सीटें मिली थी। और जेएमएम को 19 सीटें मिली थी। हेंमत को दुमका से हार का सामना करना पड़ा था। वहीं झारखंड के विकास मोर्चा के संस्थापक बाबू लाल मरांडी गिरिडीह और धनवार से हार गए थे।
