जनपद आजमगढ़ में 23 जून को हुए मतदान का प्रतिशत रात 48.58% बताया गया, निर्वाचन आयोग में जब सारा आंकड़ा मिलाया और स्कूटनी रिपोर्ट तैयार की तो उसमें अब आंकड़ा बढ़कर 49.48% हो गया। बता दें कि इस लोकसभा के अंतर्गत 5 विधानसभाऐं जिसमें मुबारकपुर, आज़मगढ़ सदर, मेंहनगर, सगड़ी व गोपालपुर है, सबसे अधिक मतदान मुबारकपुर में पाया गया तो ही सबसे कम में मेंहनगर विधानसभा में हुआ। आजमगढ़ लोकसभा उपचुनाव में 13 प्रत्याशी मैदान में रहे, जिसमें प्रमुख रूप से समाजवादी पार्टी से धर्मेंद्र यादव, बसपा से शाह आलम उर्फ गुड्डू जमाली तो वहीं भारतीय जनता पार्टी से दिनेश लाल यादव निरहुआ ताल ठोक रहे हैं। हालांकि आने वाला 26 जून को मतगणना में पता चलेगा कि जनता किसे दिया है जनादेश।
