International Yoga Day was celebrated on Tuesday by the Department of AYUSH in Kaza sub-division. Special events were organized at the Buddhist Monastery of Taboe, the world's highest post office Hikkim and the Kaza Ice Hockey Rink. 435 people took part in yoga camps at all the four places.

    സമുദ്രനിരപ്പില്‍ നിന്നും 15,500 അടി ഉയരത്തില്‍ ഒരു പോസ്റ്റ്‌ഓഫീസുണ്ട്. ലോകത്തിലെ തന്നെ ഏറ്റവും ഉയരം കൂടിയ ആ പോസ്റ്റ്‌ ഓഫീസ് പ്രവര്‍ത്തിക്കുന്നത് നമ്മുടെ ഇന്ത്യയിലാണ്.

    ഹിമാചല്‍ പ്രദേശിലെ സ്പിറ്റി വാലിയിലെ ഹിക്കിം എന്ന ഗ്രാമത്തിലാണ് ആ പോസ്റ്റ്‌ഓഫീസ് പ്രവര്‍ത്തിക്കുന്നത്. പുറം ലോകവുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെടാന്‍ ടെലിഫോണോ ഇന്റര്‍നെറ്റോ ഇല്ലാത്ത, ലോകത്തിന്റെ മാറ്റങ്ങളെ കുറിച്ചു അധികമറിയാത്ത ഇവിടുത്തെ ഗ്രാമവാസികളുടെ ജീവിതം തന്നെ ഈ പോസ്റ്റ്‌ ഓഫീസുമായി ബന്ധപെട്ടു കിടക്കുന്നു. റിന്‍ചെന്‍ ചെറിംഗ് എന്നയാളാണ് 1983 നവംബര്‍ 5നു ആരംഭിച്ച ഈ പോസ്റ്റ്‌ ഓഫീസിലെ അദ്യകാലം മുതലുള്ള പോസ്റ്റ്‌ മാസ്റ്റര്‍.രണ്ടു പോസ്റ്മാന്‍മ്മാര്‍ കാല്‍നടയായി പോയാണ് കത്തുകള്‍ ജനങ്ങള്‍ക്ക്‌ കൈമാറുന്നത്. 46 കിലോമീറ്റര്‍ ദൂരം വരെ അവര്‍ ഇങ്ങനെ പോകാറുണ്ട് . ദുര്‍ഘടമായ പാതയാണ് പ്രധാനനഗരമായ ഖാസയിലുള്ളത്.

    അതിശൈത്യം ഉണ്ടാകുന്ന കാലങ്ങളില്‍ ഹിക്കിം പോസ്റ്റ്‌ ഓഫീസ് അടയ്ക്കാറുണ്ട്.

    അഞ്ചു ഗ്രാമങ്ങളാണ് ഹിക്കിം പോസ്റ്റ്‌ ഓഫീസുമായി ബന്ധപെട്ടു കിടക്കുന്നത്. ഇതില്‍ കോമിക് എന്ന ഗ്രാമം റോഡ്‌ മാര്‍ഗ്ഗം എത്താന്‍ സാധിക്കുന്ന ലോകത്തിലെ തന്നെ ഏറ്റവും ഉയരം കൂടിയ ജനവാസമേഖലയാണ്. ഒരു സ്കൂള്‍, ആരാധനാലയം എന്നിവ ഒഴിച്ചാല്‍ ആകെ ഇവിടെ 13 വീടുകള്‍ മാത്രമാണുള്ളത്. കൃഷിയാണ് ആളുകളുടെ ഉപജീവനമാര്‍ഗ്ഗം. കര്‍ഷകര്‍ സേവിംഗ്‌സ് അക്കൗണ്ടുകള്‍ തുടങ്ങാനും, ബുദ്ധ സന്ന്യാസികള്‍ തീര്‍ത്ഥാടനത്തിന് വേണ്ടി പോകാനുള്ള പാസ്‌പോര്‍ട്ടിനും എല്ലാം എത്തുന്നത് ഈ ഓഫീസിലാണ്. തണുത്തുറഞ്ഞ മലനിരകളും, അരുവികളും എല്ലാമായി ഹിമാചല്‍ പ്രദേശിന്റെ മുഴുവന്‍ സൗന്ദര്യവും ഇവിടെയെത്തിയാല്‍ കാണാം. ഇവിടേക്ക് എത്തുന്ന സഞ്ചാരികള്‍ ഇവിടെ നിന്നും തങ്ങളുടെ പ്രിയപെട്ടവര്‍ക്കും സ്വന്തം മേല്‍വിലാസത്തിലും കത്തുകള്‍ പോസ്റ്റ്‌ ചെയ്യാന്‍ ഒരിക്കലും മറക്കില്ല. കാരണം ലോകത്തിലെ തന്നെ ഏറ്റവും ഉയരത്തില്‍ സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്ന ഈ പോസ്റ്റ്‌ ഓഫീസില്‍ നിന്നും എത്തുന്ന കത്ത് ഒരു യാത്രയുടെ ഓര്‍മ്മ കൂടിയാണ്.
